Message from Owner

Nami is a 5 month old kitten. She sadly got out yesterday evening with her leash and harness on her still. The harness is mostly black with some white contrast on it. She is not declawed. But we are very worried she is stuck somewhere because of the leash. If you can, please please help us locate her.

🙏❤️ Leave a door open at night too... big enough for the cat to get back in their home .... it worked for my cat.

Try Going out late at night ie midnight and again early am ie 5 or 6 am with their smelly food and treats. Shake treat bag and call out their name. Take a flashlight and check under porches and bushes. Also if you can leave a bat window and garage door open so they can get in. Do for multiple days if needed. Good luck

There are a few proactive things you need to do right way… I would go outside and call for him and shake a treat bag regularly. He may be holed up behind a bush or hiding. Probably not far away but they do get freaked out once they get out. Can you put your garage up 6”? Put a bed and water out there. He needs water 24/7. You can register him to multiple Lost sites. That way you get a poster to put up to alert neighbors he’s missing. Put them up also at more major crossings and intersections. Do the most right away. Check alleys and outdoor cat colonies in your area. Also a live TRAP is very effective when he gets hungry he’ll take the stinky tuna bait. Put it up near your house where you can monitor it often. I would only do this during the day and at dusk. Put his favorite blanket or your jacket over one end so she’s not as aware of the cage. Good luck.🍀 Hope you spot him.

Put out clothes that have cats scent. Check bushes even in middle of night with flashlight. Put up flyers. Contact non emergency pd and animal control. Chopped? Check with neighbors. Post on all lost fb pet sites in area and next door.

Go outside at dawn or after dusk, use a flashlight and shine it in the grass, in bushes, under decks, porches, crawl spaces, window wells, in garages, under cars, up in the trees or on a roof, across the street in bushes and look for eyes to reflect back at you. Go out and listen for sounds of movement. Walk around the neighborhood and call her. She is probably nearby. If you can, get a trail camera so you can see if she is in your yard at night. Ask permission to go and check in your neighbors’ garages in case she was locked inside and is afraid to come out. Check their yards, sheds, window wells, under porches, under the house and up in their trees too. Crack your garage open a bit so she can come back in. Cats lost outside usually stay quiet because they are hiding from potential predators. Look down in the sewers too because cats can jump down there to get away from a car or predator. Check under the hood of your car before starting when it gets cold out. Check under cars near your home Check out your doors from time to time at night, especially between 1-5 am, in case she is trying to come back inside. Open the door, call her quietly and listen for movement or sounds as she may need a minute to come out of hiding. Try holding a door open for her to come in when you are calling her. Put up flyers with the photos and give one to your mail person as they go all over the neighborhood. Give one to local vets too. Keep checking at Animal Services in person every day if possible to see if she was brought in there. They give stray cats a new name when they come in without identification and get put up for adoption online, so don’t look for your cat by name if it wasn’t chipped or vaccinated. Also check the online adoptable cats everyday as they do take cats to PetSmarts in Wisconsin. Animal Service’s hours are M 11-7, T-F 11-5, Sat 11-4, closed Sunday. Check the listings for adoptable cats at the area rescues like Noah’s Ark, TAILS, PAWS and Friends Forever in case she was taken to one of them. If she is chipped, notify the chip company that she is lost and be sure they have your correct contact info. Don’t put litter box out as it may attract predators or other cats who will scare your cat away from home. Instead, put out clothes belonging to her favorite person(s). That will be familiar and help her get home. Post photos as a lost cat on Nextdoor, winnebagoanimals.org and on Facebook at Fido Alert. Include your phone number, especially on Pawboost.
