If you haven't done so yet, put George's litter box outside. They can smell that for up to a mile away. Does he still have his claws?

Jinky Leizle, if a cat returns when litter is used it's generally in spite of, and not because of the litter. Cats bury their waste to keep their location secret, so advertising it can undermine recovery efforts, attracting predators and aggressive cats. It's better to keep one's own cat and others in the area safe by using a scent that's familiar but comforting, such as a blanket, unwashed pillowcase, or worn teeshirt.

I hope he gets home. I had one missing for 10 days once and he came home while I was at work one evening. My husband wasn’t sure he was my cat, so I asked him to put the cat on the phone. He thought I was nuts but did it. I spoke to the cat, and hecc be answered me. So I told my husband that it was my cat. Keep him in and warm.
