Vlada Po, No, my point IS NOT, NOR EVER WILL BE to make people lose hope in their little fur friends returning. I truly hope she does return safe and sound! I would NEVER hope a poor little kitty came to harm, and I'd be the FIRST to BEAT THE out of an abuser!!!! I'm just pointing out the dangers of letting house cats roam freely outside.

Jason M. McKenna my cat is quite capable of surviving. She is young and healthy, fast, she can climb, jump and is very cautious. I was observing her for 3 months and I'm quite confident in her survival ss. If the point of your comment is to make me lose hope - I'm not going to. I won't give up on her.

Vlada Po, "House cats" are not "apex predators". Stray or feral cats can learn to protect themselves, but house cats have never needed to learn survival ss. I'm not saying they're completely helpless, they do possess instinctive ss, just not highly developed ones capable of fending off or evading an attack by sed, wild predators.

Jason M. McKenna 1) Cats are very good at avoiding coyotes. Felines are apex predators, much better hunters than canines. Domestic cats share 96% of their DNA with wild cats. Good hunter always knows how to not become prey. 2) Raccoons are generally indifferent/friendly towards cats. Very rarely they become aggressive. There are a lot of stray cats in the area - they would not survive if coyotes and raccoons posed such risk to them. 3) I did not plan for my cat to become an outdoor cat, she escaped. She didn't show any interest in being outside until March 4th.

We have coyotes roaming Pacifica. Raccoons can also be dangerous towards cats. I really hope she comes back safe and sound. 😢 If she likes being outside to explore, consider leash training her and take her out for walks.
