Put up signs everywhere including your front yard, covered in plastic to protect from the rain.
Know on doors and talk to your neighbors in case they have seen the dog/cat or have taken it inside or have sent it to animal control. Go to animal control every 2 or 3 days in person .
Put three articles of clothing in you yard so it can find you and food and water, they can hear and smell for almost a mile away.
Sit in your yard and call the dog/cat every five minutes for as long as you can. Listen for a response in between calls. You will be like the lighthouse Beacon for it to come home to.
Post on evert lost and found site you can.
For cats you may need to set a humane trap from 9pm till 6am cking every two hours and ck any wooded areas in case the cat has gone up a tree to escape a predator.
