This fluffy boy has been hanging around my hse for the last 7 months. I decided to begin feeding him in early November 2025. For as long as we’ve seen him around, he’s never worn a collar. He’s also super friendly and isn’t afraid to approach humans. (He welcomed 25+ people at my door one evening, stayed outside and beside the door for the entire time, and everyone told us what a beautiful and friendly cat we have sitting outside! We had to tell them all that he wasn’t our cat!! lol) we saw him kinda like the neighborhood cat, but he chooses to sleep in our backyard during all times of the day. We even find his dead carcasses that he leaves for us to finish (throw away). During the rainstorms, we would find him sitting outside looking like he wanted to come indoors. We made him a cardboard box with a pillow inside so he had a soft place to sleep at night. Maybe I hesitated to take him in because we already had 2 indoor cats. But I wanted to wait at least half a year before I made any moves. After the last rainstorm in April, I finally decided to take him to the vet for a checkup. It was heartbreaking to realize what poor physical condition this cat had been living in as an outdoor cat. He was completely covered in fleas, the back of his neck was caked in flea dirt, and he had so much matted fur under his belly. We checked him for a microchip; he had none. I made them check a second time for the microchip; a beautiful cat like this has to belong to someone. They still couldn’t find a chip. The vet said he could’ve gotten out of his owner’s and just roamed the neighborhood for the last couple of years. His teeth have tons of plaque that shows he might be 5+ years old. Judging by the overall condition of the cat, he’s been neglected for quite some time. They gave him a rabies shot and sent us on our way. I took him back , gave him a half-day’s worth of a flea bath & grooming session, set up his own litter box, and quarantined him in the bathroom for 48 hrs before I let him out to explore my . This cat is someone’s cat. Not only did he use the litter box immediately, he also let me bathe him and clip his claws with minimal fight. He’s also social with my own hse cats. He was welcomed by them almost immediately and knows how to play nicely. However, he eats like a teenage boy and will eat 3 servings of cat food if I don’t monitor them while they eat. He eats like he’s on survival mode all the time. Right now, he is in a loving environment with his 2 new kitty friends. He’s being fed and brushed. He’s also been treated for fleas for this month. If this is your cat, please provide any veterinary documentation and photos of you and this specific cat together to show proof of ownership. He is not microchipped and if he is not claimed with proof of ownership by the end of summer, he will be taken in to get microchipped and I will officially adopt him.
