Brownish merle male pitbull

We found a beautiful Merle pitbull that’s full of character and personality. He’s been well taken care of, seems to be healthy, has been neutered and seemed to recently been groomed. He’s been running with the stray dogs for a while. He’s good with people, chickens and loves car rides. Not sure how he is with other dogs but he was running with stray dogs. It doesn’t make sense why he was abandoned with the other strays? He is microchipped but not updated or they simply don’t want him back? They refuse to answer or respond to us. I have to take him back to the streets if someone doesn’t grab him up. He’s having to stay in my car (yes the AC is on) I take him out so often and I try to stay in there as much with him as I can. He’s not allowed at the place I’m living. So I have no choice but to keep him hidden in my car. He deserves the best! Please help me.
