I have this sweet girl and want to check that she doesn’t belong to someone else before falling too in love with her.

Donna Cardonita Thank you so much for all of this info Donna, I really appreciate it! I contacted animal controls in the town and surrounding as well as vets. I also took her to the vet for a microchip check and none was found. She had no collar or any other signs of being lost from a home, and she is very young so no sign of pregnancy, and no other cats or kittens nearby at all. I am absolutely keeping her as long as she isn’t anyone else’s, and if anyone does come forward to claim her I will confirm in every way possible that they are her real owner. If you have any other advice for me please don’t hesitate. She is snoozing comfortably in her new bed with a full belly at the moment 🥰

Thank you for helping! I used to admin several lost and found pet pages and these are suggested tips for a found cat: Please contact animal control and local vets in case owner called them looking. They’ll also scan free for a microchip if you can bring cat in. You may want to post signs for those not on social media. If the cat has a collar without a tag, pls check the inside of the collar as some now have the contact info stamped or printed on the inside. Some have it on the buckle. If female, pls check stomach for s/nursing mom and check area for kittens. Be very cautious of those claiming to be owners; ask for proof and/or vet records. There are many people who have ill intentions towards animals especially cats. If you are unable to do any of the above, PLEASE don’t just give the cat to anyone but a reputable rescue who will do their due diligence to find owner or screen potential adopters to find a loving home. Note...if you’re considering finding a new home for this cat...in most states by law, you have to give owners a chance to come forward before rehoming any pet.
