Tammy Bullard Kirby a very small adult could maybe be eaten by a very very large adult anaconda, but one surviving here long enough for that to happen certainly isn't likely, and one going out of its way to target a human is even less likely. Nonvenomous snakes just really aren't a hazard to a competent adult

Amanda Marie Nation animal control said they were also checking with Dunn PD if they made any arrests there that may have led to it being left there. If I hear from the previous owner I'd be happy to reunite them with their snake. I also just recently saw a post of a bunch of snakes who had hand drawn names and doodles on their enclosures, dumped on the side of the road all dead, even loved animals can end up dumped, could be a spiteful family member, you never know.

Little update on this guy, I have let animal control know (they had already seen this post actually lol) he's comfy and safe in a nice warm humid hide and if I don't hear from the owner he's going to a loving home!

Tammy Bullard Kirby most exotic reptiles can't survive NC winters, and this guy wouldn't ever get big enough to eat anything more than maybe a squirrel. Even something like a Burmese python or even an anaconda would only be a threat to wildlife if they could survive well enough here to breed, but you're absolutely correct on that last point, animals aren't disposable toys.

Amanda Marie Nation people also do dump reptiles all the time, people buy them and then realize they take more to actually care for than they thought or lose interest and there are people who just have absolutely no regard for the well-being of animals. My partner and I just took in a kitten who was thrown out of a moving car, I can absolutely see someone getting sick of their snake and just dropping it off somewhere on a whim. It is still entirely possible it was a lost pet, which is why I'm taking the steps to find the owner, if someone is out there looking for it I've left contact information with as many people as possible and this post should come up wherever they're looking, but I'm not hopeful about it. Important thing is that it's safe and enjoying a warm humid hide right now!

Kelly Anne alot of people carry their snakes with them in vehicles and motorcycles. Who th would dump a python at a gas station? Literally nobody. People take them for free all the time. That's someone's baby
