ON DAY 1 DO NOT: 1. Run to the shelter! Most pets are within 1 mi of home if you act quickly. Your search should be there! You cannot afford to leave for 2 hours to check the shelter. Your pet could be hit, or taken by the time you get back. 2. Do not post on several Lost Pet groups . You cannot effectively manage tons of notifications. Praying hand emojis and weak suggestions cause owners to get too many notifications to stay on top of. Plus they waste valuable time sending owners in the wrong direction. Weeding through multiple notifications can cause you to lose the very lead you are looking for. 3. Do not drive around calling your dog for hours. This is one of the worst methods to find a pet. Get a post on the neighborhood apps asap. Next door 75% return rate. Ring / neighbors by ring 69% return rate. Flyers 7-21% return rate. All 3 are your strongest methods! Day 2: 1. Call the non-emergency police department number. Speak to dispatch. Ask if any pets matching your description near your major intersection have been called in. 2. Call the 24-hour emergency vets around you see if your pet has been brought in. 3. Call the regular vets near you and see if your pet has been brought in to check for a chip. 4. Post on Pawboost 1x! Do not pay to be at the top. It doesn't help. 5. Post on Petco love lost. Use a clear photo of your pet from the front. Crop out carpet, walls, furniture, other pets, people, and the yard. You want your dog as big as possible it should fill the whole photo. #1 error that owners make is no/confusing location information. Put your major intersection and City first! 6. Register with MCAC. CHECK THE SHELTER. DRIVE THERE DO NOT CALL! Ask if your dog is in the infirmary. 7. Arizona Humane Society. Report pet missing. This is different from the county shelter. 8. Pawboost: You've posted your LOST pet. Now look under FOUND DOGS OR CATS. Finders hit the apps 1st. A few post on pb under FOUND. 6. If 0 response put a reward. YOU MUST PUT THE AMOUNT!! People ignore the word reward without a cash amount.

ON DAY 1 TO QUICKLY FIND YOUR PET Post on: 1. Next door app 2. Ring or neighbors by Ring app Both of these can reach 10 to 50 people quickly IN the immediate vicinity The people MOST LIKELY TO SEE YOUR PET IN REAL LIFE. Look to see if anyone posted your pet on those. These apps are the #1 place Finders post a found pet. Owners need to be on both. 3. AFTER you post on both apps, put up 40-80 Flyers. Flyers should be simple. Goal: large print Phone number & 1 big clear photo. *Is it clearly visible from 20 ft away? A flyer only works if they can read it.
