♦️Leave a baby monitor outside (preferably with a camera, not just sound). They often come home in the middle of the night when all is quiet. If you hear meowing, open your door! ♦️If you have a garage or low-level window, keep it ajar should your cat come home on his own even at night! ♦️Leave a trap & surveillance camera near your front door/porch with your worn, dirty clothes and food. ♦️New Ring search party for lost pets. ➡️ Tap “Search Party on Ring Neighborhood and hit right arrow” under your dog’s picture to start “pet search party” BUT do NOT send codes or $ to anyone claiming they have your dog since the NJ list of volunteer dog trappers do NOT charge so they will not ask for $ OR codes!! https://ring.com/search-party ♦️Hire a drone company (WITH thermal imaging ability when there’s snow on the ground!) ♦️Do NOT send $ or codes to anyone! Scams on every lost pet page. ♦️I’ve heard conflicting thoughts on whether to leave kitty litter boxes & food out to lure cats back home. This is what I’ve read, but do some research if you do: “Some coyote trappers use cat litter as bait. Ever wonder why cats bury their waste? They don't want to advertise their presence to predators! A litter box placed or sprinkled around the home may put your cat at risk of being ed by a predator before you can get him back in the house.” ♦️I was told cats do not travel far, so also share to your *local* township Facebook pages, Ring Neighborhood, Nextdoor app AND flood your development that you live in with fliers. Fliers generate sightings. Lawn signs are very effective, eye-catching and waterproof. Put them at nearby intersections. ♦️From Er No: “Our friend was told to put out clothing, ohh with her smell and stand in ONE spot for a half hour, calling him...he was missing 2 weeks. If you walk around calling them, they keep changing direction to follow your voice and cannot hone in on where you are. She put out clothing she wore 12 hours, then stood at her back fence for over 45 minutes, calling him. She went inside and within 1 hour, he showed up. It is worth a try.” ♦️From West ord Lost Pets: “TINKER has been FOUND❤️ Maryann stayed on the porch for hours last night, playing soft music that was familiar to Tinker, and with her blanket and food, and did not see her. When she got up this morning, she went into the woods with her treats and breakfast, and TINKER came out very warily and wouldn’t approach, but by talking softly and preparing Tinker’s breakfast Tinker slowly approached and came up to her as she sat quietly. Maryann scooped her up and ran into the house, with her girl safe in her arms” ♦️At latest sighting set a humane trap & surveillance cameras. ♦️This worked for another person recently: She “sat out in the dark in a lawn chair and called softly to him. He came running.” ♦️When posting to any missing pet pages, be VERY careful of scams. Do not send $ or codes to anyone. Often scammers will say “Go to Instagram” <— but don’t! Most lost pets are networked in Facebook & Nextdoor app. Many reputable trappers & trackers are volunteers in NJ and do not charge. ♦️Go in person to local shelters to see if your cat is there.
