MESSAGE FROM OWNER

I'm absolutely heartbroken since Ricky slipped out Monday night. After so many cat rescues in the past 30 years, he is now the only cat I have and I'm so worried! He has darted out the back door now and then but doesn't go past the patio. This time I had family in town, the front door was open and closed a lot, and somehow he got out. He was heard on the window ledge that night crying to come back in, and those sitting near the window heard him but didn't say anything. I was too far away from the window to hear. I've put out his litter box in hopes he'll pick up the scent and come back, put out his food and water, and a favorite bed, all on the porch. He helped me get through being a hermit when the pandemic hit. He always stays close to me. If you're in this or adjoining areas please take a quick look outside your . He'll be under a bush or tree, in a wooded area, sheltered in the daytime, sleeping. I'm not sleeping, just worried. Thanks for reading this.

DESCRIPTION

13-year-old all black cat with green eyes. Ricky is neutered, has always been an indoor cat. He is still lost and scared. Me, too. He has no front claws so is at a disadvantage outside. (He was that way when I got him.) Because I've heard several times that indoor cats usually stay fairly close to home, he is probably in the Cloverdale neighborhood, between Cloverdale Dr and Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hixson Pike and Norcross, and hopefully closer to August Drive. This area is very close to the intersection of Hixson Pike and Hwy 153.

Sounds like you’ve done many of these already. Hope you find him soon.

I'm so sorry about your baby. 🥺💔 It is critical to be as proactive as possible. Indoor-only cats dont go for so she is probably close and hiding. Work with a cat rescue to immediately set cat traps or you can order them on Amazon and set them yourself. You will need to check the trap(s) every morning. You can also hire a pet tracker. I know you have food and water out for your cat so keep doing that. You can even put it ace it at a point of entry like a cracked garage door and put some of your dirty laundry on the porch or in your driveway. Be careful putting the litter box outside because it can draw other cats who will mark it and/or chase himand he may not want to return. It can also draw predators. Once the cat traps are set you can pick up the food but leave the water. Also sit outside every single day especially at dusk and at night and put dry food in a plastic container with a lid and shake It loudly and call his name. Print some flyers for neighbors and businesses in the area. Put some in public areas and offer some type of reward. This will incite people to intentionally be on the lookout for him or to return him. 💗
