Bizarrely, I have come into custody of a second white ringneck dove. I am the same person that posted the previous one. There was a group of neighborhood kids walking around with this bird, looking for its owner. I told the kids I could take care of the dove while they look for the dove’s owners. Unfortunately, they presumably have not found the owner. This one is in excellent spirits, and relatively friendly. Very healthy as far as I can tell. Quite reasonably, they are nervous with hands (after being grabbed and carried around by the kids,) and with big movements, and sounds, but a lot has happened to them over the past few days. They will perch on one’s fingers if their feet are nudged. They aren’t the greatest flier either, but they are missing quite a few feathers, most notably their tail feathers. I can only assume that this dove came from the same place as the previous one (who I named Lucky,) they were both well loved and socialized as far as I can tell, and I don’t believe they were simply discarded as a wedding display. I hope we can find this one’s owners, but if not, we have a place for him to stay (that isn’t the cardboard box, we’re working on a proper setup)
