This is a high risk area for theft or finding and keeping. The owner likely has about a 10 to 20% chance of getting her dog back without a reward on her posts. And a reward is no good without an amount. Good people will look for free. People without integrity need to know how motivated they are. Hopefully the exception to the rule finds her dog and returns it just because.

What happened: She got out under the backyard fence after digging a small hole — she’s tiny so it didn’t take much. I let her out with our other dogs like normal. I walked upstairs, looked out the window, and she was immediately gone. We started driving around searching for her right away. There is a church directly behind our backyard/fence area. A trash truck was nearby and she was barking at the noise. 📌 FOUND AND KEPT DOGS We have a VERY high number of pets found and kept in Tucson. Especially in certain areas. Probably around 50%-70% of found small dogs are kept, and to be honest it's probably way higher than that. :( People like to call it “rescuing” the dog, but really, it’s theft. See, pets are considered personal property, and under Arizona state law, you have to do an owner search for several days before you can keep someone else’s pet, or rehome it. Those of you that find pets and keep them are breaking someone’s heart, destroying families and ruin lives. I’ve been on the phone with owners having panic attacks, chest pains, crying for over an hour on the phone with me, severely depressed… Some even have to go to the emergency room… because you thought it was if it’s free - it must be for me. YOU ARE NOT BEING A GOOD PERSON IF YOU FIND AND KEEP SOMEONES PET WITHOUT DOING AN OWNER SEARCH. What happened to being a good person and doing the right thing? Flyers without a reward absolutely DO NOT work on finder keepers / thieves. Most of the time a flyer WITH a reward won’t work on them either, but if might work on their neighbors. THAT is why you put a reward. 👎Flyers without reward 👎Posting without reward 👎 Putting the word reward ONLY without the amount. (The word reward only doesn't mean anything to someone with no integrity. People need to know how motivated they are to do the right thing.) ✅Reward with AMOUNT if offered immediately. Owners that wait oftentimes never see their pets again.

post to next door. file lost reports with lost.petcolove.org and humane society. get flyers up. put out bedding and soiled laundry as a scent of home. check pacc and humane society daily.
