Your post indicates he was 'taken from you when you were gone' - by who - can you ask them to give him back? OR is he lost? If he is lost post signs in the area with his picture for those people not on social media - set up a scent station using worn clothing from you his owner - hang that high so that the scent can travel and guide the cat to your location. Knock on door in your area to see if he is stuck in someone's garage or shed. Check with local animal shelters. All the best in getting your cat back.
