Message from Owner

If anyone sees him please contact me. If you have him please know he has a family that is needing him . His bestie Penny (an orange tabby) has been missing him as well. She now only sits in the windows waiting for him and has stopped being playful.

Thank you all so much for sharing and the advice! He has been missing for 12 days now. We have tried everything above except for doing the fliers. I believe someone has kept him inside their house at this point. All the neighbors are looking out for him. There are also a lot of trees and brush around as we live in a fairly wooded area. I've been to the local shelter and I check their page every few hours for their found strays posts.

Shared, place some of your worn clothing outside so he may detect your scent and find his way home ( change daily so the scent will be fresh). Also, check under brush or outbuildings if any is near where he could be hiding and check with neighbors in case he wandered into someone else's outbuildings or garage. Make flyers and also ask your mail carrier to keep an eye out. Good luck finding your fur baby.

I’m sorry to hear your cat is missing. I have heard great success stories when owners put out used pet bed and owner’s worn clothing. This helps set up a scent perimeter, helping the cat find the direction of home-even if they’re used to venturing outside (they can detect scent over a mile away). Many don’t come out of hiding until the wee hours of the morn so may be worth setting an alarm and setting up near an open door closest to your scent items. If you’re on an upstairs apartment, petfinders recommend you look on bottom floor nearest your scent items, as kitties don’t have a great concept of levels. They may return but only to the ground level floor. If you’re able hang flyers and check with neighbors and nearby businesses, this could really help. Your baby may have snuck into a shed, garage, or crawl space when the door was open. I had a kitty that did this once. We found her (healthy, but hungry) in a crawlspace a block away. Sending positive energy and hoping your baby makes it home safely and quickly…

Search at night with a flashlight (eyes will glow) up in trees and inside and under things on your property and up to three or four houses away. Cats normally stay pretty close to home. You can put something with the smell of the cat, or the scent of home, out on the porch. Put up missing cat posters, check with your neighbors, post on all local social media groups, and check with animal control every week. Leave your garage door up enough to allow the cat entry. You can also try searching early morning, before dawn, calling his/her name and carrying and open can of tuna or cat food. Hunger sometimes lures them out of hiding. Don't forget to check places like crawl spaces, garages, and sheds.

This helped get a neighbour's cat back. I saw it on a post a while ago. Also, if you have security cameras or can get some, or ask your neighbours, make sure the cameras are set to all motion and aimed at the ground where you have some enticing food. You might have to adjust sensitivity and block spaces you don't want motion picked up. If you don't have security cameras, you can get a Wi-Fi trail camera from Walmart. Easy set up, but might have to pay a small monthly fee. This will allow you to check when your kitty might be stopping by. That helps if you have to set a trap to know what time to put the trap out. You can buy a trap online, at a home improvement store, or reach out to a shelter to sign one out. When you set up the trap to catch your cat, do not leave it unattended. You want to be close by. The cat will be scared and could hurt themselves or something else could hurt the cat in the trap if left unattended. You want to be close to cover the trap with a towel or blanket to help calm them. When setting up the trap, either put a towel over the sides except where the cat enters, or put it on as soon as the cat is inside. You can try covering half as well and then when the cat is trapped cover the rest. Might need to try different ways. Put food in the trap in a sort of 'T' like formation. In the front, put a little bit of food to coax them in then put another back a little further, around the trip plate, and a long line at the back to make sure they go all the way in and trip the cage to close. It is usually best to put some news paper/cardboard as a liner on the bottom of the trap to keep the food from falling through the cracks and help the cat's feet to not get pinched in the wire of the trap. DO NOT place the litterbox outside, your friendly cat might not be the only animal it lures. You want your kitty safe when it comes back not attacked by a predator. It is better to put something that smells of you out. Also check for enclosures your kitty may have gotten trapped in such as garages, old chicken coops, crawl space, ect. If you have not already, make fliers and put in mail boxes, at local vets, animal shelters, etc.. If you are using Pawboost, they have a flier you can print. If not using, go to their website and sign up. They have free features and one is a flier.
