📌 SKITTISH DOGS RUN THE STREETS Skittish dogs…especially small breeds, German shepherds and huskies. They run and run and run. Very hard to catch. Many eventually are hit by a car. Some manage to hide and stay on the run. This is why it’s so important to have a collar with your number on the back of the neck so even if someone can’t catch your dog, they can still see the # and call you. These dogs are also why it’s super important to post on Neighbors by Ring and stay in the comment section! Not come back hours later. If someone posts they see your dog, you have to get over there ASAP, not reply back 5 hours later. It’s too late by then. Some owners seem to believe they can go after work, after their baby wakes up, after their husband gets home. For many of these individuals their dog is never seen again. Dogs wait for no one. Flyers without a reward oftentimes do not work on these dogs either. These dogs will likely only come to their owner, and the owner needs people in the community commenting on sightings in real time, not hours or days later to catch up with their pet. 👎 Flyers without reward are not going to Garner the same attention that a reward will. 👎 Posting without reward- same 👎 Reward inspires more people to go the extra mile, take the time to contact the owner ASAP which is vital to catching up with your skittish pet.

📌 FOUND AND KEPT DOGS We have a VERY high number of pets found and kept in the valley. Especially in certain areas like Phoenix and Glendale. Probably around 50%-70% of found small dogs are kept, and to be honest it's probably way higher than that. It's weird that it happens most in Phoenix and Glendale. :( People like to call it “rescuing” the dog, but really, it’s theft. See, pets are considered personal property, and under Arizona state law, you have to do an owner search for several days before you can keep someone else’s pet, or rehome it. Those of you that find pets and keep them are breaking someone’s heart, destroying families and ruin lives. I’m not being dramatic. I’ve been on the phone with owners having panic attacks, chest pains, crying for over an hour on the phone with me, severely depressed… Some even have to go to the emergency room… because you thought it was if it’s free - it must be for ME. YOU ARE NOT A GOOD PERSON IF YOU FIND AND KEEP SOMEONES PET WITHOUT DOING AN OWNER SEARCH. What happened to being a good person and doing the right thing? Do better. Flyers without a reward absolutely DO NOT work on finder keepers / thieves. Most of the time a flyer WITH a reward won’t work on them either, but if might work on their neighbors. THAT is why you put a reward. 👎Flyers without reward 👎Posting without reward ✅Reward if offered immediately

Hi I was unaware that your dog was missing in this neighborhood until today and I profile the cases see what I think is going on and I would put my money on it that somebody in your neighborhood took your dog in and is keeping it. If you do not put a reward you likely will not get your dog back and since it's already been two weeks there's a real good chance that whoever has your dog won't give it up. But what your goal is is for the neighbors to tell you who has your dog. I hope you will take my suggestion and update your posts. Also don't just put the word reward you have to put the amount. People need to see how inspired they are to get out and find your dog.

Cynthia Aragon Hi there are some very important things that owners do / don't do that make or break them finding their pet oftentimes. 1. Absolutely put the major intersection and city in the first sentence of your post something like Missing from... 2. Depending on your area if it's high risk for coyotes or pet theft put a reward in the second sentence with the amount. Nobody pays attention to the word reward only. The reward is to inspire people that don't really care about a lost dog to pay attention to or to motivate people to pay a little more attention and go the extra mile to help you get your dog back. 3. The first place owners should post is on Nextdoor and then the neighbors by ring app. These are like a mini Amber alert that go out to your immediate vicinity. Considering most dogs are within a mile of home if the owner acts quickly that reaches many people in your immediate radius. Next door reaches 2- 4 MI Neighbors by ring reaches approximately 8 miles around you North South East and west. 4. Also extremely vital! Never just post and move on! Sometimes when owners do this their post dies. Zero comments. Crickets. You don't want that. Comment on your post a few times after it goes live to kick it off stir the pot what have you so that other people start getting notifications and come and see what all the to do is about. Be sure to like their comments. You don't have to respond with a comment to all of them but it's very important to engage with people in the comment section. 5. Do not put your phone number on your post or in the comments on neighbors by ring if you can help it. The scammers will call you like crazy. Babysit your comments heavily. Every 15 to 20 minutes I would be checking and commenting. 6. Write your own ad do not go with what neighbors by ring offers as a generic one. Don't use a pet poster for your pets picture put an actual big picture of your pet so people can clearly see it when they scroll by. If you act quickly on these apps the first day there's a good chance you get your dog back in a couple hours or less. If you run to Paw boost, the shelter, and all the Facebook groups you are losing time you don't have. Focus on the apps for the first day or two. 9 out of 10 people that find a pet usually put them on one of the two apps. This is because they're already on them for other things. They're not on Lost pet websites they're not on last pet groups. Also don't forget to check the Facebook page called Arizona humane society found pets. I hope this helps. ~Found dogs only Maricopa County♥️ Volunteers feel free to copy and paste.
