The SPCA KEEPS RECORDS ON DOGS ADOPTED OUT. THE ADOPTEE HAS A FORM TO FILL OUT before they can adopt. Why won't they release the name to you? Get a lawyer.

For clarification on this post as the details I could input into PawBoost were very limited. My name is Noah, me and my girlfriend at the time, got Bhodie when we lived in Illinois, this was back in 2024. From then we have moved all over with him, ending up in PA. I have not been making enough to financially support us because she did not want to work, so I took it upon myself to decide to join the army, which would put us in a better place financially down the line, she had an option to let me house Bhodie with other family to have a lighter financial burden on her as she would need to find at least a part time job to support herself off of the minuscule amount I would receive during deployment. She did not want to do that and it spiraled from there, I have been gone dealing with my army waivers as I have a medical history, on TOP of working and providing. Out of anger I assume, she decided to surrender Bhodie. I don’t believe that the shelter is wrong for accepting the surrender, my anger is not directed at the shelter or the adopter, just that I want my dog back because I did not consent to this and never would. If at the end of the day, I cannot have Bhodie back then ok. But I will voice my experience and what has happened whilst being within a toxic relationship with someone who actually needs mental help. He IS microchipped, it DOES have both of our information present, he IS just as much hers as he is mine, BUT I would hope that because I did not agree to this as the other legal owner of Bhodie, that will make a difference.

Noah Gilchrist that’s considered a civil matter, unfortunately. As stated, and it’s unfortunate, animals in PA are considered property. Not saying any of what’s stated is fair, but what you’re potentially up against.

Carrie Maul excuse me? I’ve been busy with my enlistment into the army. My ex was upset and took that out on me with our dog, we share ownership of him. We both got him while being together. I have not been home in the whole amount of time while dealing with army waivers. While I was gone to the army, the plan was for him to be with my family and then relationship issues arised. He is microchipped with both of our information present.

Chrissy Prft I am sorry Bhodie’s name came out wrong. It was that stupid spell check and I apparently didn’t see it. I always pride myself in spelling names correctly so this is also a disappointment for me😕

Unfortunately, some of the information noted doesn’t make sense. Animals are considered property, what names are on his vet records? Joint registration - as in primary / emergency or both names concatenated as primary? It’s 2 weeks later, no reports until now? I’m sorry this happened, some of the history isn’t clear though.
