Poor baby! Please try these things even if some sound unusual, it truly works! These are things that I've personally seen happen and help so many pets get back home! 1. Please be sure to notify the chip company if they are chipped and make sure your info is up to date. 2. Do not set out a dirty litter box. Cats hide their stool to protect themselves from predators, it can attract dominant cats or predators causing them to retreat further. Leave a t shirt or blanket outside instead. 3. Rattle a treat can if you have one. Especially when it's very quiet outside! You may have to listen for a faint meow. 4. Go out at night with a flashlight and look under bushes and porches, the eyes will glow when the flashlight hits them. They can get trapped in garages and sheds too! Check all possible hiding spots, even high in trees. 5. Alert neighbors and mailman, even go to their house or put a flyer in their door! Ask if they (or you) can check any garages and sheds. 6. Watch the Ring doorbell app and Nextdoor app for sightings, as well as all the lost pet facebook pages and the lost and Found section and Pets section in Craigslist. Watch Lost/Found/Sightings of Missing Pets in St.Charles County, Greater St Louis Missouri Lost & Found Paws, St Charles County MO Lost And Found Animals, and there are a lot of others pages. 7. Chips can migrate and sometimes can shelters get the wrong. Check repeatedly every 2-3 days. Check further away too, sometimes people take pets away from their home base. I saw 1 found 4 hrs from home last week! I've seen people take them to shelters in other counties as well. 8. Get on 24petconnect and call your local rescue groups in case they found your kitty. This does happen. Most rescue groups will assume they are strays or abandoned and will not look for an owner if the cat isn't microchipped. 9. If you have money for a cheap camera put it outside to see if your kitty comes around at night or while you're gone. You can use a trail cam or we use Wyze cameras from Petsmart, Home Depot or Amazon, cheap yet very good. Usually about $25/$30 with memory card. Records day & night, motion sensor, etc and no membership is required. 10. Borrow a live trap from the Pet adoption center and put some good food or sardines in oil in the far back of the trap. Never leave it unattended though! 11. Check the closets, cabinets, inside furniture, in washer/dryer, boxes, all over to ensure cat is not in the house. 12. Leave a cardboard box outside (under shelter) with a soft blanket or straw, for your cat to hide in if they return when you are not home. 13. Check 24petconnect. This website provides found cats that are currently at Animal Control, the Humane Society and the APA. The website updates throughout the day so check back often. I've even seen cases of chips that stopped working. 14. If you have a garage, leave your garage door open a little or put out a box or plastic tote with blankets for shelter in case he/she comes back at night. Keep entry point open when possible so cat can re-enter with ease. 15. Look in storm drains. Follow the path in case your cat traveled it. 16. Check near trash piles and boxes left out. 17. See if anyone has a cat friendly dog that might be able to get your cats scent and locate him/her. 18. See if there are any cat colonies or feeders of cats nearby. Some people have lost their kitties and they were found at a cat colony looking for food. 19. If it's cold out check any possible warm place, even under cars and in wheel wells too. Prayers sent and post shared!

I'm sorry kitty is missing. The number one piece of advice is to actively work to bring your cat home. Don't just wait for them to show up. Hang fliers--they work. Notify the microchip company that she is missing. Visit local animal controls in person. Notify local veterinarians. Post to the Next Door app for area lost. If kitty is normally indoors only she is likely very close to home. Sit quietly outside at night w a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Put out stinky mackerel or canned pink salmon. A trail cam can be helpful. You might need a live trap. Don't lose hope. Best of luck. https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/lost-pet-behaviors/kitty-litter-myth/
