Message from Owner

Timber is our sweet girl, 5 years old. Black/gray/auburn tabby. Her older cat sister cat recently . She’s been taking it hard has been acting different. She enjoys exploring outside during the day and sleeps in her room at night. On the evening of the 16th, she never came home. This is not like her, and we are very worried that it rained and she lost her scent. She is wearing a light gray flea/tick collar as we took her pink one off to give her a break from wearing it. She knows her name, but she is timid. It is more likely that someone will spot her rather than catch her. Please let me or my husband know as we are very sad and worried for our girl. Update: We are moving to Naples at the end of the month. This is always horrible, but this timing is extra, extra horrible. I have spread litter, driven every street in the vicinity, went to the shelter to put eyes on the cats there, posted her to PawBoost, Lost and Found Pets, Nextdoor and here on FB, walk morning 5am throughout the day until about midnight-1am, put scent markers on the porch like our dogs bed and her litter box. Posters are being made. Also went to local stores to look near dumpsters. Also places for her to hide as someone suggested a chair with a covering. Actively working on: drone community (waiting on answers/names) and put out traps (finding). I just wanted to thank everyone who has posted suggestions and shared her post. I am 5 months pregnant and as I pack up our home to move, I truly cannot express my gratitude to those who take their time to help in any way. Hugs to you all. STILL LOOKING! Will never stop.

Andrea Conklin OMG what! I am on Nextdoor too, for Timber, but I haven’t seen this. Do you possibly have a link or a name? Edit: it wasn’t Timber. I absolutely appreciate you taking the time to comment that, every lead is of value 🙏🏼❤️

Gab Kosak the only thing we don’t have is a trap :/ where would I possibly find one? I cannot afford to buy a new one online but I would be absolutely grateful to borrow one and I’ll clean it up! On our porch in the complex we have the dog bed, who she loves and trusts. Lots of scent items. I love the chair idea! I will give that a try. The litter box was cleaned before we knew she was missing so it’s fresh but still in the same container thing so I’m hoping that if I rub it enough she will recognize the scent. Thank you so much for your suggestions. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I did go to the shelter too. I put eyes on every cat there. Unfortunately she wasn’t in cat jail…

There’s a post on Nextdoor about finding a cat that looks like yours and very friendly. Lady feeds feral cats on waters behind BJs and took it in looking for owner

Kinsey Zimmerman, I’m sorry your adorable tortoises cat has failed to return home and is lost. If she escaped a fence or enclosure, please let me know and I will provide a different strategy. Otherwise, if Timber is well acquainted with the territory where she's lost, please try not to fear the worst — she may simply need some extra help getting home. Thoroughly search using a flashlight during the day and especially at dusk (when it's dark and quiet) to determine whether she’s ill or injured and hiding nearby, or stuck somewhere. Check every crack and crevice, look in outbuildings, containers, vehicles, under foundations, sheds and porches, into trees, etc. — call and listen carefully for Timber’s cries (she may alert you to her location). And it’s important to ask neighbors to do the same and make sure Timber didn’t hide and became trapped in a shed or garage, etc. Please see this list of step-by-step instructions developed to help others in this situation (click on the link) and let me know if you have questions. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10236753035464835&set=p.10236753035464835&type=3 In addition, this video explains the temperament and behavior of a lost cat — it may instill hope of finding Timber. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2eCoC63B9I Good luck. Please keep us posted on your progress.

Post on lost and found pets of Pinellas county Clearwater, FL - Lost Dogs, Cats & Pets - PawBoost Put this post on all of the lost and found pages in your county and all of your neighborhood pages. The only way a lost cat can find its way home is with its nose. Immediately anything with the cat's scent on it and anything that stinks of you like your smelly socks something that you sweated in overnight and your stinky sneakers even your dirty clothes and your underwear! Cats usually stay within a five house radius of their own home for up to a week sleeping in the bushes and coming out at dusk Dawn and late at night. These are good times to take walks shaking the treat bag and calling for them. Cats can smell up to a whole mile away. So do that immediately and also put this on nextdoor. com and the other lost and found pet sites. Go on those sites looking at pics of found cats too. There might be a match. They tend to come home late at night or early in the morning so if you can keep a window cracked or a door cracked so at least you hear them. Good luck IF YOU HAVE FOUND A CAT: Please post this on all the lost and found pet pages in your county as well as all the neighborhood pages. Look on those pages just look at the photos try to make a match to someone that lost this cat. Almost certainly a pet that got out. I did see a similar looking cat on one of the pages. Any vet will check for a chip for free. In the meantime please give food and water to the kitty and shelter if you can.

The best time to look for a cat is late at night after the daytime sounds settle down. Go for a walk and take a flashlite scan into the trees and under bushes. A cat can fit in any hole that they can fit their head thru they have collapsible shoulder blades. Most indoor cats stay close to home but come out at night. Most important is to make your presence known. Go out every half hour after 9pm and call for them and stop and listen it's amazing what you can hear late at night. Get your voice and scent out there. They are looking for you also. Look for glowing eyes at night. If there is a dog sibling that the cat likes take the dog on the walk. If you open canned cat food or shake treats do so on your walk. If the cat has a noisy toy shake it on your walk. Make posters and put in every business within a mile of the home. Let your mail carrier know. If there are teenagers in the neighborhood let them know they love reward money and being a hero. Check all local shelters. Let local veterinarians know your info. If there is a feral colony near you check it out. If you can find the feeder of the colony give them your info. Make large signs and put in neighbors yards at least a mile radius of the home. This ensures that everyone in the area has the info. Put post it notes on your neighbors doors to look in sheds and garages. Post on every Facebook forum in your area. Post on Pawboost and For the love of Louie. Check Humane Society. So important to make your presence known every half hour after 9pm. Make a bed out of the cats carrier and put soiled clothes from inside the home around the bed. Put it as close to the house as you can. Leave a shed or garage open check them often. Camp in your yard. Most indoor cats are found late at night. Don't give up. Do not put food out or litter it attracts every animal in the area including raccoon opossum feral cats and coyotes. Your cat will know that there is food inside and that is incentive to keep them close to the house. If you are outside that's OK but take it in when you go back in. If your cat sees a predator eating their food it might make them retreat further. Most important is to let them know you are looking for them. Hope you find your baby
