Hades's Owner Says

Thank you everyone for your kind words and wishes, Hades brought himself home at 4am this morning after we spent an entire day trawling though farmers fields and the rural Scottish countryside in the pouring rain! For a cat that only spends a maximum of 10 minutes out in the garden then comes in for a snooze, he was gone for a total of 24 hours! He’s been checked over, fed, given treats and is now having a well deserved snooze! That again everyone

I hope some of these suggestions will help if appropriate. Please ask your neighbours if you can check their garages (including the rafters), sheds (inside, ``up residence without anyone knowing and has been inadvertently locked in. It is best not to rely on neighbours doing this but to check yourself as kitties do not always come out of hiding for a strange voice. Also check under decking (use a torch) and any shrubs/bushes ensuring you push any foliage right back so that the ground is exposed in case she is trapped. Check under cars and also gently tap the bonnet. Put any used litter or the contents of the hoover into a plastic bag, punch holes in it and tie to the washing line so that familiar scents go airborne to help guide her home. Do NOT put out her litter tray as other cats can and will use it. Alternatively, peg dirty washing/her bedding on the line. The best time to look for her is very late at night or the early hours of the morning when all is quiet (5 am is a good time). Take a torch with you as the light will reflect off her eyes (preferably with a red light so she is not startled). Also take some smelly food in an open container (sardines, tuna, own food heated up). Alternatively, if she has a favourite treat shake a bag of them. Do not shout on her; just gently call her name and listen for her miaow. If she is chipped contact the Microchip Company so that her record is flagged as missing. Also contact all local vets and Scottish SPCA in case she is found and handed in. Cats Protection will add her to their Facebook Lost page if you contact them as will DogLost (they do kitties as well). If possible, print off flyers and put them through neighbours’ doors a few streets in each direction from your home. Also put them on bus shelters, local shops, etc. If you don’t have access to a printer DoxDirect will print 50 posters free of charge. I have shared for you and I hope she is back home with you soon. Here are some other recommended tips that may help.

Hi Hades has been missing since 4am (06/06/2026) he’s an old boy who’s not really used to going past his garden and the field at the back of the house (his usual time outside is around 10 minutes before he comes back in) He’s been missing for 13 hours now so any information would be greatly appreciated, many thanks all 😔
