Message from Owner

Oliver is very sweet, has never been outside of the hse and may be confused. He’s 10-12 yrs old. We took him in as a stray about 8 years ago but have since moved. There are neighboring outdoor cats that may complicate his return. He got out in the afternoon but I didn’t realize until bedtime when he wasn’t there.

Cats tend to stay close to home. Put stinky food out for him like sardines or tuna. Also place several pieces of recently worn, unwashed clothing or blanket outside of your house. Set up a camera outside to watch for sightings. If needed, try to borrow a humane trap and set it by the door through which the cat escaped. This is a helpful way to catch him, because he may be returning to the house, but you just aren't seeing him or he’s scared. Once you put a trap out, remove any other food except for the food in the trap. Call his name at night when it's quiet & listen for his meow. Use a flashlight which his eyes will reflect & shake treat container. Post fliers in your neighborhood. Talk to your neighbors so they know to look for him and will know he is your missing pet & not a stray cat. If you engage people personally, they will be more likely to contact you if they see him. Also check every nook and cranny in your home. Sometimes they are hiding in the smallest and unusual places. Good luck!
