Leave door or window slightly open as they will often return through where they escaped from . Secure your other pets of course

If sighted, It’s better not to chase, lost cats are even more skittish and spooked outside and will even run from their owners. If possible, it’s better to sit at ground level and talk in a normal voice, which will bring them closer to you. Even better, bring some food, smellier the better - tuna, shrimp, rotisserie chicken. If you can safely leave a door or window cracked open specially at night, the cat might walk back in. They can get locked by mistake in sheds garages and bats, ask neighbors to check and if they can leave doors open for a while. A frightened cat in hiding probably won’t come out when people are around.

Shared. Assuming he is strictly an indoor cat: He is likely hiding somewhere very nearby, on your own property or very near. It is rare for an indoor cat to go further than a house or two away. He is terrified and will not come out or respond to your calls. If he comes out at all it will only be at night. Look for him after dark with a flashlight. Look in every tiny space he could possibly squeeze himself into. The flashlight will let you see the glow of his eyes. Put out his litter, some worn clothing with your scent (pillowcases work great, worn socks) and some stinky food (tuna, sardines, KFC). Leave scent trails to your door with something like tuna juice or chicken broth. Indoor cats get lost very easily. In their fear they become disoriented and can’t find their way back to your door even though they are right on your property. But they have a VERY strong sense of smell. Do these things and they will help your baby find his way back to your door. If it’s feasible, leave the door ajar for him. Your indoor cat doesn’t know your house from the outside, but he knows it from the inside. Every house has a smell, and yours smells like “home”. If you leave the door ajar, he will smell it and run right in. Another thing you can do is sleep outside. A few people have done that recently with great success. Best of luck!
