Message from Owner

Hi, my cat bobby went missing last Wednesday. He usually comes and goes as he pleases but hasn't returned. He is a neutered male around 15 years old. He is an orange tabby. He is people friendly, but scared of dogs. Gets along with female cats. I've been searching for him for days. He is microchipped. Please if you spot a cat that looks like him contact me.

Create a scent station (items with your/your cat’s smell - unwashed bedding, clothing, cat tower, etc. Especially important if cat is in new/unfamiliar area. Do NOT put out litter pan as feces often used to mark territory and may inadvertently attract predators or territorial cats.). Check it often, especially when things are quiet (late evening/early morning). Leave the garage door open 5” overnight. Check nearby Ring/security cameras in the area. Check in and under everything inside and outside with a flashlight. Cats don’t usually go far and freeze in a tight ball in very small, tight, dark areas when scared. The flashlight catches their eyes’ stare, especially at night. Thoroughly check inside your home, especially if this is a new/shy/scared pet. Post on NextDoor app as it covers your local neighborhoods. Be sure to check your local animal shelter in person at least every other day (can’t stress enough - in person!!! You know your pet best plus animals constantly brought in). If your cat is not spayed/neutered, may be why it is “lost” and traveling further. Hope your pet is home safe and soon. (Note: if anyone asks for money or a code as “they have your pet,” this is a scam). https://www.pawboost.com/blog/7-effective-search-tips-for-finding-your-lost-cat/ https://petfbi.org/i-lost-a-cat/tips-to-lure-a-cat-back-home-2/

Tips to Help a Missing Cat Find its Way Home 🐈🐾🐈‍⬛ Most cats stay nearby, however, be aware that they are great at hiding and can fit into small/tight spaces that you wouldn’t expect. CAUTION: Put his/her litter box on the porch (or in your garage with the door opened a few inches) along with a blanket or article of clothing that has his scent and yours on it. *Be advised that a litter box can invite other cats or predators to your property* Check frequently to see if he’s out there. They can smell from a long ways away. Look in sheds, garages, under cars and bushes, up in trees, and in window wells. Ask your neighbors if you can look in their backyards and sheds (he may be trapped inside). Remember, if you have a garage keep the door open enough so he can get inside. It’s also a good idea put something of his out there, so he can identify that he’s found his home. Put up flyers and go to local animal shelters IN PERSON—don’t just call! Make sure you give them all the pertinent information about your missing cat (giving them photos helps, too). The best time to look for him is late at night and early in the morning when it’s quiet out. Call his name softly and listen for him to answer—shaking his favorite treat container can also be helpful. Return to places you have looked and search those areas again. 🐾
