You're preaching to the choir about microchipping. Of course I wouldn't take an animal to Boulder found in Denver, but in this case Humane Colorado is probably the best choice if they'll take her. That's not a feral cat. I've had one of those in my house and it would not lay there and let you take a picture. This cat either belongs to someone or is a stray and once vetted, could be adopted. Just FYI, a couple of months ago I found a young husky in Aurora. I had no problem taking her to Humane Colorado (in Denver). She was sent to the Buddy Center in Castle Rock and quickly adopted after her stray hold was up.

Kris Short they will turn them away when the finder reports where the animal was found, and tell them to go to the appropriate shelter. I know this because I've taken multiple animals to different jurisdictions as well as working in the veterinary field, closely, with multiple animal control agencies. Would you take a dog you found in North Denver to the Boulder animal shelter? No. Shelters don't immediately euthanize on presentation when a sick or injured animal comes in unless it is to absolutely relieve their pain and suffering they do all that they can to try and find an owner via microchip collar tags looking on social media and posting on their own lost and found pages, they do their due diligence. And remember this may just be a feral street cat and may not belong to somebody. And the ways we know that is ear tipping, and tattooing at the site of Spaying or neutering. Also if this IS an owned cat, It is the owner's responsibility to properly microchip them, have a collar with tags on them, and keep them indoors if possible.

What kind of vet turns an animal away? The kind that is all about the money! The kind that doesn’t really care about your pet! SMDH! Praying this poor baby makes it!
