Message from Finder

Cat was initially sighted mid 2025 - periodically would visit our yard and our friends/ neighbors yards . We were told recently that this cat was “ abandonned” and is now a feral . He/she seems like a domestic cat with a sweet disposition and I’m worried that he may be a missing cat and someone is looking for their kitty.

SPAY AND NEUTER: If kitty isn't fixed …. the biggest gift you could give is to get kitty fixed❤️ 🙏 to prevent endless kittens being born outside to suffer and struggle and to prevent him from getting into horrible territorial fights that are often lethal . Thank you for being part of the solution..so many need our help...we do our best one kitty at a time. ❤️ damia LOW COST SPAY AND NEUTER: OAKLAND --> https://icraeastbay.org/resources/local-resources/spayneuter/ FOSTERING FOUND KITTY - Creating a Safe Haven 😻When you rescue a cat from the street, you are often their last hope for survival. Because many cats brought to shelters never leave, fostering them in your home is the greatest gift you can give while searching for their guardian or a new forever home. 😻The Bathroom: The Perfect Starting Point Don’t worry if your bathroom is tiny; cats actually prefer small, contained spaces when they are overwhelmed by a new environment. Keeping kitty in the bathroom ensures they are safe, easy to monitor, and away from the stresses of the rest of the house. 😻Setting Up the "Bedroom" Inside the bathroom, provide a litter box, food, and water. For their bed, a covered hard carrier is the most ideal setup. 😻The Setup: Place a soft blanket inside the carrier and d another blanket over the top, leaving only the front opening clear. 😻The Strategy: By making the carrier the only "hiding spot" in the room, the cat will learn to view it as their safe zone. This makes it much easier to transport them to the vet for a microchip scan or to their new home later on—they’ll already be comfortable inside! 😻Acclimation and Trust: I always keep new rescues in the bathroom for at least a few weeks until they are fully acclimated and ready to explore. Even spending just 30 minutes a day with them makes a world of difference. It helps them feel safe, allows you to get to know their personality, and ensures they are ready for the next chapter of their life. 😻 Thank you for opening your heart and home to a cat in need. You are changing a life that someone else may have failed. ❤️.❤️

PART 2 HUMANELY TRAPPING ‘SIGHTED’ SHY CAT CLICK —-> TRAPPING / LURING YOUR CAT(how to) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SwaCTR1QrhlWg6mhq8roXmJHb6nauLCHB6v38UYCPRM/edit?tab=t.0 💖🐱 If kitty is skittish then consider humanely trapping kitty in order to get kitty scanned for a microchip and then consider fostering in a bathroom or playpen until guardian or furever home is found. I recently trapped a black cat with no tail on a busy street who was LOST FOR OVER 1 YEAR!!! I had no idea until I trapped kitty and scanned kitty for a microchip and luckily the contact info was recent!! - someone had posted on nextdoor about this cat, asking if anyone knew this cat. I didn’t want to wait due to a storm approaching and set up the trap next to my car and watched out the window…kitty came right after dark after 4 hours of waiting - I used stinky tuna based wet food as bait in the back of the trap and treats at the entry of the trap to get kitty interested in entering the trap. I placed a towel under the trap to stabilize it and put a piece of cut up yoga mat inside so kitty would not step on metal and that way I could put a few treats inside the trap too. WATCH THE VIDEOS BELOW - changed the way I trap! 💖🐱RENT/BORROW A HUMANE TRAP - Ask Nextdoor ‘cat owner’ group or other pet groups if someone can loan your a humane trap to lure kitty with stinky wet fish based food. You can rent from your local SPCA/animal shelter though it can take a few days to access so sometimes reaching out to cat groups on nextdoor and facebook will be faster. If you live in San Francisco I am happy to loan you one of my traps. Traps WORK well to lure scared cats out of hiding before Dawn or after sunset. 💖🐱I use a baby monitor → https://a.co/d/bcuK17m as part of the STAKEOUT to monitor the trap door opening non-stop livestream (or you can add your wifi camera to your iPad or mini-ipad and use the pad as your live stream monitor OR SIMPLY watch LIVE FEED from your wifi camera (mini blink works great!). When you set the trap, you place stinky fish based wet cat food as bait at the far back center of the trap BEHIND the ‘trip plate’. I would suggest getting the help with someone experienced. OR watch the training videos below. It’s crucial for you cat’s safety. You must monitor the trap at a close distance and/or watch the baby monitor live feed without distractions. 💖🐱NEVER never never never leave an active trap unattended/unmonitored for even 10 seconds. You can cause injury or death to a cat who is trapped and left inside for predators to attack. If you come across any stray cats coming to the food, please find out if kitty belongs to someone else by posting online ‘IS THIS YOUR CAT’ on facebook, nextdoor etc and take the cat to determine if micro-chipped. There are so many lost kitties and you would hope someone would do this for your kitty. 💥💥BEFORE TRAPPING: MUST-WATCH HOW-TO VIDEOS 1. Trapper Tips and Tricks! Presented by Neighborhood Cats : https://youtu.be/DtXyrD6w0bk 2.Trappers Tips & Tricks Presented by Neighborhood Cats and the Community Cats Podcast : https://youtu.be/aL6kSPjrBbQ LINK to Graphic showing Trapping Stakeout: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vTnF0r1693YiOYLhqJGvf0KtQQ3X17Qy/view?usp=sharing I recently rescued a ‘stray’ cat who was either lost or abandoned . I started putting out wet food bowl when a neighbor spotted a cat on her RING camera at 3AM... I started putting wet food bowl 1/2 way inside an UN-SET TRAP to get kitty used to eating from inside the trap without any bad happening. I clamped the trap door open using zip ties so the door could NOT shut. I saw on camera that kitty went in after first being a bit hesitant. By night 3 she came early 530pm right after dark (they tend to come earlier once a consistent food source is found) The next night was time to TRAP. I SET the trap and put the food bowl all the way to the back of the trap (small bowl on night of trapping) and she was trapped within an hour! I scanned her for a microchip but she does not have one. I flyered every door (using painter's tape) and posted on every lamppost nearby. I had her FIXED, chipped and vaccinated at 9 lives in Redwood city - discounted rates! I kept her in the bathroom for a few weeks then moved her to a bedroom. I found an amazing human to adopt her! The best feeling ever!

There are SO many sweet abandoned cats ....If kitty was abandoned that does NOT mean kitty is feral at all - it means poor kitty is now struggling to survive and is most likely scared /confused that there is no HOME to go to where kitty was once fed and cared for and where kitty could be safe at night. I pray you and your neighbors will provide food and water and try to win over kitty's trust ...I rescue abandoned cats off the streets of SF and place them in my bathroom initially where it's contained and safe and kitty can acclimate to inside..i've converted countless street cats to indoor only life ...I find loving homes for them one at a time. it takes some time but it is SO fullfilling to rescue a life and eventually get kitty rehomed. If kitty isn't fixed I get them fixed chipped and vaccinated ...when they 'show up' like this - we are often a cat's last hope. THank you for caring and for helping to rescue this cat or at the very least - provide food and water consistently daily ❤️❤️❤️❤️
