TWO brown tabby cats, one male & one female

Message from Finder

Appear to be between 6 and 10 months old (getting an age estimate at vet tomorrow). They were scanned for microchips but none were detected. These kitties are extremely friendly and well-socialized. The male came right up to me and the female followed shortly thereafter, when I past by the creek alongside the parking lot south of the swimming pool at Crystal Lake Park. They appeared a bit confused or uncertain about their surroundings, and the female acted as if she wanted to follow me when I went to leave the area. They were very hungry when I offered them canned food. Both allowed me to pick them up, with mild protest; neither one is a big fan of being held, but they allow it when I need to do so to put them in a carrier or remove them from an area where they could cause some mischief (knock things over, etc.). I spent about an hour and a half with them on site before deciding to temporarily take them in. Being unneutered and alone in the park, with the many hazards around which all outdoor cats face, concerned me. The male is visibly not neutered, which leads me to conclude that the female has not been spayed (also due to lack of microchips), but can't confirm this. They both were shedding a lot of flea dirt and scratching a fair amount upon arrival; I have treated them with topical flea preventative. There is plenty to say about these babies. So far they have been delightful houseguests! She is a bit smaller and initially was more adventurous than him; she has been super outgoing, affectionate, and BUSY checking everything out from the start. He initially hung back a bit and did not warm up to the point of purring until a couple of days in. Now he actively seeks out attention. They both are good eaters, appear very healthy, are curious, sweet, and smart. They respond appropriately to my correction (saying No, clapping my hands, or approaching to remove them) when they have jumped on or otherwise gone someplace I'd prefer they didn't. Both are interested in various toys, and catnip. They slept and lounged around cuddled up closely together for the first couple or a few days, but have since found their own preferred sleeping and hanging out areas. They still interact closely, sometimes get the zoomies and chase each other around. These cats clearly have been owned, well fed, and well-socialized to human contact. They even allow me to touch their paws. I have to wonder if someone is looking for them and missing them. More photos are available on request, and I would like to see photographic proof and vet records to confirm ownership. The male has one particular distinguishing feature that could be used to identify him, and both have a specific behavioral quirk that could also serve to confirm their identity.
