Marie Cutlip No, he cannot survive on his own. He doesn't know what to eat. He cannot fly down. He never learned any of the traits and behaviors that wild birds do. If not found, he will likely die of starvation, dehydration, or from predators. He's not a pet - he's a member of our family.
