Always notify the County Animal Shelter that you found the dog and where and when you found the dog. Any vet will check for a chip free of charge. A found pet must be kept on stray hold. Also share to Nextdoor and Lost and Found Dogs of North Carolina. Please require proof of ownership older than six months to ensure the real owner gets their pet back. Thank you very much for saving this one!!!

Barbee Kugel he actually looks pretty well cared for - he’s well fed and his coat isn’t perfect but it isn’t matted or super dirty. I actually had a shelter dog on Dog’s Day Out when we were flagged down for help, so my neighbor took him to GCAS to scan for a chip (there was none ☹️). He’s safe on stray hold getting care for his wound at GCAS.

I hope you are keeping him safe and contained. Did you take him to the vet to be checked for a microchip and have those place checked? Looks like he had a noncaring owner and would be better off with someone who will take care of him. Thank you.
