To find a lost cockatiel, act immediately by searching your immediate neighborhood. Because they are domesticated, they rarely fly far. Place their familiar cage, complete with food, water, and favorite treats (like millet), outside to draw them down. Call their name loudly and use familiar whistles.Immediate Action StepsDo Not Chase: Running after your cockatiel will frighten it, causing it to fly further. Walk slowly, stay calm, and coax it to you using treats.Listen at Dawn and Dusk: The best times to search are just before sunrise and right around sunset. Cockatiels are flock birds; they will be highly vocal at these times and might respond to you.Look Up: Because they are not used to wild environments, spooked cockatiels will instinctively fly to the highest nearby vantage point, such as a rooftop or tall tree.Set Up a Lure Station: Place their open, familiar cage outside, stocked with plenty of their favorite food (e.g., millet sprays) and water. If you have another bird, supervised placement of the second bird's secure cage can also draw them to the area.Spreading the Word LocallyFlyers and Door-to-Door: Print brightly colored flyers with a clear photo and your phone number. Pass them out within a 1- to 2-mile radius, alerting neighbors, gardeners, and mail carriers.Contact Local Shelters and Vets: Call local animal controls, humane societies, avian veterinarians, and local pet stores to report the bird missing. People who find pets often bring them to these locations

Ask neighbors to look on their surveillance, security, and doorbell camera's video for your bird. Put up flyers in the area where the bird is lost. Pawboost created a flyer for you to download so you can print out copies of it. Petcolovelost, and 24Petconnect also offer free flyers for download. Post on Nextdoor in Lost and Found Pets group, any Lost and Found birds groups, post on Neighbors, you don't need a Ring camera to post on Neighbors This flyer is available on Canva.com,you can change the words and picture to what you want

Posted on Lost and Found birds of the US. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1PfoeA2a3S/?mibextid=wwXIfr We are so sorry to hear your bird is missing. Here are some ideas to assist in your search. *Create a post on Pawboost, NextDoor & Ring, if you haven’t already. *During the daytime: use a wireless Bluetooth speaker to broadcast flock calls or your voice, shake treat bags or anything that might attract attention to food, put the cage out where it can be seen. *During the evening when searching is over, design & print off flyers with photo & contact information. These can be encased in a ziplock to keep weatherproof & posted in areas where allowed like parks, poles & any nearby gathering areas. Also drop off some at vet clinics, pet supply stores, anything within a 5 mile radius. Contact local shelters/rescues & even the police dept - they do pick up found/stray pets all the time. Make sure the world knows - neighbors esp ones that have bird feeders/baths/pools. Hand them out while searching the area. Join every local social media group there is. Run an ad in your local newspaper - some run one for free in lost & found (or cheap). Also check with local bird watcher groups - they’re always out & about. Flyers cannot be placed in mailboxes. *PLEASE CHECK WITH LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTERS & FILE A MISSING PET REPORT*
