Darah Elizabeth-Whiteley Bolick Thank you for helping that baby! Can you edit your post? Did you find him in a subdivision or near some homes? If so please take him back there. Walk him around the neighborhood where you might run into the owners. If you found him in a yard, knock on that door and surrounding doors. That dog most likely came from a home within a couple blocks of where found. Please, post on Nextdoor. Often people will join Nextdoor for their small business or if they’re construction workers as well as the people looking for those services. But it is specifically for lost pets too. There may be a neighbor out searching right now for their dog. That’s what people do, they walk and call, while one of them drives the area so you might find them by just walking him. Making flyers and walking the neighborhood is still the best way to find a dog when first lost, or the owner of a lost animal. Beware of anyone who offers to take it. Good people adopt from shelters. They don’t take advantage of someone else’s misfortune. People should ask why they need to. If you let someone else foster, check them out first. Get their telephone number and address and give that info to shelter and people searching. Make sure any rescues are 501c3. Check for a chip at any vets or even the emergency vet. Contact the local and surrounding shelters and file as found, send a photo flyer so they can post on desk. Post on surrounding town and county L&F groups. Post on PawBoost, and Petco Love and search their listed lost dogs.
