Anna Adams Well, it may depend on the area. We have some adopted orphan kitties who mostly stay outside for different reasons... not cat box trained or altho fixed still spray, all males. Our covered porch has cozy houses for them also heated for Winter months; unless it goes down too frigid then they come inside and I stay up with them. Doesn't happen often. Anyway. We keep dry food outside under the carport on a table and on porches. And other then the occasional opossum and raccoon no other animals come around. Once in a great while a stray dog will come thru and either chase or scare the cats. The one covered porch has a gate to keep larger animals at bay. We've been doing this for yrs with no big issues. I hear about coyotes around but have never seen one here. Same with black bears too but again I've never seen one. And too if there are other cats around your area, well, cats bury their poop and urine as all cats do in boxes and on property so why would a lightly soiled cat box be any different. I found that whistling for cats works so very well and we do it everyday ever since the first time. A cat can get chased out of their known scent zone and become lost just a block away. Or as I also stated, chased up a tree. Even tho they can quickly climb a tree it's a different thing altogether to know how to climb back down. We've had to break out our extension ladder twice to get one of our outside/inside kitties down out of a tree alter a stray dog came thru. By saying his name and whistling for him we then heard a quiet meow and followed it to a tree in our yard. Also, this time of year people are getting in and out of sheds and crawl spaces to get yardwork done and cats love those hidey holes and could get trapped inside unbeknownst to residents. I hope your baby comes home or you get him home very soon! ❤️🙏
