Message from Owner

Otis, you came into my life during one of the hardest and most uncertain chapters of my journey. I got you while I was transitioning out of the military, trying to find my place in a world that suddenly felt so different from everything I had known. I don’t think you’ll ever truly understand how much you’ve helped me through it all, but in so many ways, you saved me without even knowing it. You’re so much more than a dog to me. You’re my emotional support, my peace on the days when my mind won’t slow down, my comfort when the loneliness gets heavy, and my best friend through every high and low. You’ve been there through moments when I didn’t have the words to explain how I felt, and somehow, just having you beside me made everything a little easier. When so much in my life changed, you became my constant. You gave me a reason to get up on the hard days, a reason to smile when things felt dark, and a kind of unconditional love that I never have to question. In a world where I’ve had to learn how to navigate so many things on my own, I’ve never truly felt alone because I have you. You’re my family, my companion, my safe place, and a piece of my heart that walks around on four paws. I may have been the one who brought you home, but in so many ways, you’ve been the one helping me find my way home to myself. I don’t know what I did to deserve a soul as special as yours, but I’ll spend every day I have loving you as much as you’ve loved me. No matter where life takes us or how much things change, you’ll always have me, just as I’ve always had you. You’re not just my dog, Otis. You’re my best friend, my emotional support, my family, and my whole heart. You’re all I have, and you mean more to me than words could ever explain. I love you forever, buddy. ❤️🐾

PLEASE READ!! I SWEAR BY THIS!! They don't go far. Get a humane trap ASAP. I've used it to catch 4 of my own pets. Worked every time. 3 days, 5 days, over a week and the longest was 5 weeks!! They don't go far. Don't listen to anyone who says put food out. They eat it when no one is around and leave. Put dirty clothes that smell like you in it. I bait it with smelly yummy food and water, changing it out daily. Caught at night each time. Make the trap the only option for food. Put the trap by the front door or on your porch. Tractor Supply has good prices on traps, and rescue groups often rent them out. I've also caught about 20 strays I wanted to fix. If you catch wild critter, release it and wash cage out so smell won't scare pet. Very effective. Never give up.

The "Path of Least Resistance": Small dogs will avoid difficult terrain. When seeking water or food, they often travel along residential roads, sidewalks, or railroad tracks, often heading toward water. Instead of wandering openly near large bodies of water, they are far more likely to hunker down in tight, hidden spaces during the day. Check under porches, inside sheds, beneath thick brush, or under parked cars. Don't Chase or Call Out: When in survival mode, a dog may not recognize its owner's voice or face and will run away from you. Set up a Station: Leave a bowl of water, a crate, and a piece of your worn clothing (like a t-shirt or pillowcase) near the area they were last seen. Your scent will comfort them and encourage them to stay put. Search at Dawn and Dusk: Lost dogs tend to hide silently during the day and move to find food and water when it is quiet and dark.

Post on Nextdoor too, and on Petco Love Lost. Put up colorful signs and hand out fliers in a 10 house radius from where he was last seen. Check with area shelters daily and go there in person too for walk throughs. Report to microchip company that he is lost. Take the following steps:
