Thank you for being this dog’s hero. Please get proof of ownership!
Things to do with a FOUND PET (please read through to the end).
1. Notify non emergency police, animal control and all area shelters. That’s where owners will likely call to report their pet missing.
2. Any vet & most police depts can scan for a chip at no cost to you.
***3.🆘Can you hold onto this pup for a while until, hopefully the owners step up? If so, please notify police, animal control & shelters that you can hold on to him/her until reunited with family so he/she is not subjected to a shelter? (especially if it’s a high ).
4. Hang fliers around town/city and include *FOUND, *PICTURE OF PET & CONTACT #
5. Stay in the area you found the pet if he/she is secured for a bit. The owner may be out searching and may spot you.
6. Go door-to-door with the secured dog if applicable, and perhaps the dog can you lead you to his/her home.
7. If you find a pet and are from out of state, please leave the pet in the care of a trusted person, vet or local shelter. It’s easier for the pet to be reunited with its family if it’s not taken from the area/state found in.
8. Also post on Nextdoor app & Pawboost for your area/state
9. 🆘Collect proof of ownership (vet records, pictures of them in their home, etc)
10. Please call your local area vets. Maybe they’ll have enough info after giving description & the name. Thank you!!Read More
Any new pet added within 2 miles of your location will be automatically shared to your Nextdoor feed.
The post will automatically update when a pet is reunited.
