Found? Thank you for helping. Chipped? Be sure to check all body parts. If chipped, but unregistered, be sure to ask manufacturer who purchased it. Pacc or Humane Society or chipper may have a separate paper on owner. Also, be sure to check ALL free databases (like www.my24pet.com) for registration as there could be info in an obscure database. (Happened to me after telling me chip was unregistered. Found the owners who thought she was gone forever.) Please bring to pacc 12p-615p M-F, 10a-415p SaSu (or maybe someone can help) for free: microchip (if not previously chipped, you can register the new chip online with the owners at my24pet.com, manufacturer's website and all free databases); shots; and (in 7 days) Spay/Neuter. Even if you find the owners, it is good to do this as they may not be able to afford to do it themselves. Then be with them to make sure they register the chip and let pacc know their info is connected to chip. Remind them that dogs should be registered but that there are low income discounts. You can still foster at your place or search for help. Also, Pacc won't do this (even if you turn the animal in) so it will help if you post found posts, search lost posts and hang signs (PACC will print for free, I am told or 10c/pg for color at library -- maybe less if you explain). And a sign at your own property as well. Definitely DOOR KNOCK in area found as it really can help. Have printed signs to hand out. As most dogs aren't far from home (and there are no busses to pacc!) door knocking with the dog BEFORE leaving at pacc (though after chip check, shots & free certificate) would be best way to get dog home. (Not everyone is on social media.)
