Place some of your family’s unwashed clothing, robe, blanket, etc. on your porch and/or other areas around the outside of your home. These might help Rusty “smell” his way home. Prayers Rusty is home soon!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Go around late at night calling them with food and flashlight to catch their eyes. Check around your neighborhood under houses and in small places where they may hide. Put stuff out that has yours and their scent on it. Hang flyers around for people to see. Check shelters and vets daily. Update chip info if they have a chip and its has not been update since a move. Ask neighbors to check in their garages incase they ended up trapped in one. I pray you get your baby back safe and soon.

My personal experience has been first securing other cats in another closed-off room, dimming/turning off most or all inside/outside lights and — if safe to do so and should be supervised — leaving doors (especially door/window escaped through) open/ajar in the very early morning (basically, need to camp out in room where door is ajar). (Cats have a keen wide-ranging/radius sense of smell; therefore, it is so important to get their familiar “home” scents into the airwaves.) Every time, my little escape artist has come bolting through the door between 3:00 — 5:00 AM. (NOTE: When he’s escaped and door is closed, he panics and takes off again — it is important they have a way in once they come out of hiding and make a mad dash for home.) Hopefully, if not used to being outdoors, RUSTY is very close by just scared to come out until it’s really dark and really quiet. Prayers for a quick safe return !!🙏🏻

I hope you find your baby dont be afraid to pester the shelter and resend flyers remember they can get far from home also given the weather someone could have picked baby up to save it or just taken it before to check with anyone who might have an issue with you because you never know many blessings you could look up a lost pet prayer and pray it I lost a cat once for over 20 days I started the prayer and within 12 days he was found a black cat in the desert for 30 plus days was found on Camp Pendleton what are the odds. People say it was luck I dont but that's me.

Don't give up keep looking best in evening when it's quieter and dont be afraid to keep calling and asking people resend flyers recheck places anyone who may have shown to much intrest in your cat positive or negative in today's world you never know better to cover all bases and check out every and all possibilities i hate to think like that but I didn't and it cost me dearly and I never want anyone to go through that.

If you can put out something heavy with your scent he will smell it your scent travels further will be more familiar and is a comforting scent which should draw him back home. Put it in a safe but accessible place near the area he disappeared from or usually hangs out in. He will probably be near it hiding in not to long a time. I've read recently in several rescues that this technique works. And the scent will last even if it rains and you can change the item every couple days. Putting Flyers in mail boxes and local vets and businesses doesn't hurt. Ask delivery people and mail personnel if they would take a flyer and keep an eye out they are in neighborhood and might see him. Check shelters and vets let them know your looking and that way if he's brought in they are aware he's lost . Good luck don't be afraid to call every couple of days. If you see him do not run after him he might be scared call to him let him know it's you carry his favorite toy treat or blanket to help reassure him.
