Message from Owner

I am making this post for my father who lives in Keystone Heights, FL. On Sunday, March 29, 2026 my brother and I were visiting my parents who live off of Hiawatha Street to celebrate birthdays. As my dad and I walked onto the back porch, Sambo, who was on the deck and is skittish around people he doesn't know, saw me and ran into the grge. Later, around 3-3:30 pm, we left to go eat dinner at a restaurant. We had no idea that Sambo was in my Dad's undercarriage near the rear of his truck. My brother and I were following behind my parents in another car and, right at the intersection of Monongahela Avenue and Acadia Street, my brother slams on the breaks as we watch a black cat tumble out from the underside of my dad's truck and run into the woods behind the hse at the corner of that intersection (from Co Rd 352, left on Monongahela, left on Acadia, hse on the right corner. I believe this would be the east side of Acadia as we were coming the north end of Monongahela heading south). Had we not been following behind in another car we might never have known what happened. We stopped and called my Dad, he came back and drove down Acadia but didn't see him. My dad made a post on Nextdoor but has not heard anything back yet. We are concerned because the hse right next to where we saw him run into the woods has a fenced yard with large dogs in the yard. Sambo is not used to dogs and is skittish around people he doesn't know. He also does not usually wander off out of my parents yard so we are worried about him being able to find his way back though where he got lost is only about 2 1/2 miles from my parents hse. If you see a solid black cat that matches his description and photo who might turn his head when you call his name, Sambo, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE reach out and let us know so that we can hopefully get him back safe and sound. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH to whoever reads this, shares this and helps us find him! :-)

John Charles Sheffer Cats are only found when they want to be found. And they can survive just fine in the wild, unlike a Dog. It will either find it's way back home or will select a new Servant.

My indoor at Pepper got out, I called for him for days. Put hid litterpan on front porch, put my uneashed shirt in back. I thought he was gone for good. Then one day about 2 weeks later I saw him in the back of our property, I wwas elated!! I called for but he ran away. Now I know this is normal, he was terrified of everything, even me. I started putting food out for him but other stray cats ate it and scared him off. I kept putting food out anyway and calling him. After 2 1/2 months gradually coming closer to the front of our house, he came near the front door and coaxed him withtreats till he was inside and closed the door. We live in a rural area and he stayed in the wooded area in the back of our property. So, don't give up, kèep doing everything you can and the thing that was the key for me was heart felt, fervent prayer.
