Message from Owner

I am making this post for my father who lives in Keystone Heights, FL. On Sunday, March 29, 2026 my brother and I were visiting my parents who live off of Hiawatha Street to celebrate birthdays. As my dad and I walked onto the back porch, Sambo, who was on the deck and is skittish around people he doesn't know, saw me and ran into the grge. Later, around 3-3:30 pm, we left to go eat dinner at a restaurant. We had no idea that Sambo was in my Dad's undercarriage near the rear of his truck. My brother and I were following behind my parents in another car and, right at the intersection of Monongahela Avenue and Acadia Street, my brother slams on the breaks as we watch a black cat tumble out from the underside of my dad's truck and run into the woods behind the hse at the corner of that intersection (from Co Rd 352, left on Monongahela, left on Acadia, hse on the right corner. I believe this would be the east side of Acadia as we were coming the north end of Monongahela heading south). Had we not been following behind in another car we might never have known what happened. We stopped and called my Dad, he came back and drove down Acadia but didn't see him. My dad made a post on Nextdoor but has not heard anything back yet. We are concerned because the hse right next to where we saw him run into the woods has a fenced yard with large dogs in the yard. Sambo is not used to dogs and is skittish around people he doesn't know. He also does not usually wander off out of my parents yard so we are worried about him being able to find his way back though where he got lost is only about 2 1/2 miles from my parents hse. If you see a solid black cat that matches his description and photo who might turn his head when you call his name, Sambo, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE reach out and let us know so that we can hopefully get him back safe and sound. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH to whoever reads this, shares this and helps us find him! :-)

Candy Cosner I didn't pick the name and I didn't realize it was. If you don't have anything helpful or nonjudgmental to share, please keep your comments to yourself.

"Sambo"? for a black cat? Yikes. Hope you find him but maybe pick a non racial stereotype name next time.

Put up signs in the area, check the county shelter and try to talk to the people in that house.
