Unfortunately small cat is still missing as of 1/20/2026, but I’m still doing what I can to try to find him.

He's quite familiar with the outdoors though we live in a subdivision where it's mostly just houses with some vegetation around them and many screens and pools. I've been listening out for him whenever I go out but so far I haven't heard him. Where I am in Florida there aren't foundations that he would be able to hide under or sheds, though there are a lot of fences. I'll look over the PDF that you sent now. Again, thank you for all the help.

Christopher Raymond, how familiar is Small Cat with the outdoors? When you said he ran out after your dad opened the door, I just assumed he's an escaped indoor kitty, unacquainted with the territory outside. If Small Cat is relatively comfortable and confident in the environment, perhaps he just needs a little extra help getting home. Thoroughly search using a flashlight during the day and especially at dusk (when it's dark and quiet) to determine whether he’s ill or injured and hiding nearby, or stuck somewhere. Check every crack and crevice, look in outbuildings, containers, vehicles, under foundations, sheds and porches, into trees, etc. — call and listen carefully for Small Cat’s cries (he may alert you to his location). And it’s important to ask neighbors to do the same and make sure Small Cat didn’t hide and became trapped in a shed or garage, etc. Please see this list of step-by-step instructions developed to help others in this situation (click on the link to the PDF) and let me know if you have questions. https://www.dropbox.com/s/huk0d1p6euu74ug/OutdoorCat.pdf?dl=0&fbclid=IwAR2TiOBxtcgt8odNRjcoGicoHsGDWrw3K9N4ox0GATJh4qGdsFD6T6gaXFA In addition, this video explains the temperament and behavior of a lost cat — it may instill hope of finding Small Cat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2eCoC63B9I Good luck. Please keep me posted on your progress.

Kevin Maclary Unfortunatrly he isn’t microchipped. I did go around with a flashlight but so far no luck. I’m hoping that someone thought he was a stray and will see either one of the posts I put up, or one of the fliers in the neighborhood, but I don’t believe that he would ever approach a stranger willingly.
