Wonderful news! Please buy a breakaway collar and add identification and telephone number to it incase this happens again. Also there are several VIP PET CARE locations that will microchip for only 30.00 and they don't have to put the cat under to do it. There is one in the back of pet supplies plus in south park shops. Wishing u all the best 🥰

Very important! If your cat/dog is microchipped PLEASE double check to make sure the microchip is REGISTERED and up to date with your current information and telephone number incase someone finds your cat/dog and takes it somewhere to get scanned so that they can call you. You should have the chip number in your paperwork from who IMPLANTED the chip in. You will need the BRAND of chip to be able to call them and check to see if it is REGISTERED and up to date. If you only have the number and Not the BRAND of chip you can enter it for free on this national website. Buy, rent or borrow a humane trap and set it up asap. It must be monitored, kept in the shade and covered on top because of the weather. Tractor supply, Lowes, Home Depot, and Amazon sell them. Certain animal shelters will rent them out. Keep in mind you may catch a raccoon and you need to know how to release it safely

Put something with your cat's scent on it outside on the porch such as a blanket, clothes, toys etc. Sprinkle cat nip on it too if you have any

Go knocking door to door asking your neighbors within a 2-3 block radius. Hand them a flyer with a photo of your cat/dog and a telephone number to be reached at. Hang up flyers outside and protect them with a plastic sleeve from the weather.

Go out and look NOW. The weather is going to be very bad tomorrow, lots of storms, which could place him in even more danger. Look everywhere a cat could hide at from the point where he got out of the house. A purely indoor cat will want to hide almost immediately!! When you go out to look use a flashlight, not a cell phone light, because the cell phone will not be bright enough. So use an actual flashlight. Also bring with you a thick towel or a blanket so just in case if you find him, there’s something you can safely contain him in. You must be very thorough when you look because his instincts will tell him to remain still and silent, so he does not draw predators attention. You could be standing right next to his hiding space and he might not move a muscle or better sound which is why you must be very, very thorough. Look in bushes, and weeds, look underneath the deck and porches, look in garages and sheds that might’ve been open when he got out. Of course, ask your neighbors for permission, or maybe they’ll look for you. But tell them to be very thorough. Also look around your neighborhood and see if anybody has cameras. Even if it’s a ring doorbell, those cameras might’ve caught side of him, which could help you locate where he’s at. Also look into the people who have the drones that find lost pets. KDKA just had a story on about this service which had found a lost German Shepherd who is paralyzed and could not use his back legs. So maybe they can help you to find your cat. Also call your veterinarian, and any other veterinarians in the area, and let them know he’s lost it being looked for. That way if somebody finds him and brings him in somebody at the veterinarian’s office will know that he’s being looked for. If your cat has a microchip, make sure your contact information is up-to-date.
