Post simple signs like this in your yard and neighborhood. (Put in a plastic sleeve/page protector first.). Check the Shelter(s) at least every other day - in person! You know your pet best. Set out a scent station - unwashed items with your and/or your pet’s scent (clothing, bedding, towels, toys, etc). This step especially important if in an unfamiliar area! If you have another dog, walk the area wish it on a leash. Post on the NextDoor app which covers your surrounding neighborhoods. When your pet is spotted, do not call or chase him/her! Includes filing a police report, contacting your local media (TV stations, newspapers) and checking Craig’s List where your pet may be posted for sale. Check any nearby security camera footage. Community awareness often brings them home.
