Create a scent station (items with your/your dog’s smell - unwashed bedding, clothing, etc toys, etc.). Check it often, especially during quiet times (late evening/early morning). This step especially important if in an unfamiliar area! If you have The different spirals are numbered so that this piece can be taken apart and cleaned (every 3 months I think) and put back together dog, walk the area with it on a leash. Check nearby Ring/security cameras in the area. Post simple signs (large neon poster, large photo, word “lost,” your phone number) in your yard and neighborhood. (Put in plastic sleeve/page protector first.). Contact the microchip company (be sure your contact info is up-to-date). Check the Shelter(s) at least every other day - in person! You know your pet best. Post on NextDoor app as covers your surrounding neighborhoods. If your dog is not spayed/neutered, may be why it is “lost” and traveling. When your pet is spotted, do not call or chase him/her! Just sit down on the ground and be very quiet. Set out familiar smells like your worn clothing, bedding, blankets, etc. Check the shelters, both the city and the Dumb Friend’s League, often. Several vet clinics are frequently visited when pets are found. Recently, I sent emails to clinics with the picture of a lost dog I was looking for, especially if your pet is not chipped. Please post on Nextdoor if you have not already. Such a great resource! Also, consider putting up signs. That’s how I found my sweet baby years ago. Sharing and sending prayers!
