Lost Cats‼️ Indoor only cats and limited outdoor access cats never go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. Most of them will not respond when they are in survival mode. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and pillow cases outside. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage, place the items near the garage door and crack the door enough for her to get in. DO NOT leave food or litter box outside, it can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well they are not as likely to be ed by a predator. Don't give up, it can me n take months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes. Try to look for the glow of her eyes. The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 160 feet of your home. Survival mode lasts 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum theyqq snap out of it but this is a dangerous time because they come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. In addition to posted flyers, make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Some people don't pay attention to posted flyers. It's VERY VERY important that you look for her as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful. a lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely, predators can a cat in a trap.

Poor baby! Please try these things even if some sound unusual, it works! Even the last one, I've seen it happen often! 1. Please be sure to notify the chip company if they are chipped and make sure your info is up to date. 2. Do not set out a dirty litter box. Cats hide their stool to protect themselves from predators, it can attract dominant cats or predators causing them to retreat further. Leave a t shirt or blanket outside instead. 3. Rattle a treat can if you have one. Especially when it's very quiet outside! You may have to listen for a faint meow. 4. Go out at night with a flashlight and look under bushes and porches, the eyes will glow when the flashlight hits them. They can get trapped in garages and sheds too! Check all possible hiding spots, even high in trees. 5. Alert neighbors and mailman, even go to their house or put a flyer in their door! Ask if they (or you) can check any garages and sheds. Watch the Ring and Nextdoor apps for sightings, as well as the lost pet facebook pages, 24petconnect, and the lost and Found section and Pets section in Craigslist. 6. You can put some food outside when it's calm out and watch from a distance (don't leave it out). You can also borrow a live trap from the pet adoption center, or nearby shelter. 7. Check with shelters, even ones further away, in person! Chips can migrate and sometimes can shelters get the wrong. Also check with local rescue groups in case they found your kitty. Some of them won't look for an owner if the cat isn't microchipped. Many rescues will assume they are strays or abandoned. Check repeatedly every 2-3 days. Check further away too, sometimes people take pets away from their home base. I saw 1 found 4 hrs from home last week! I've seen people take them to shelters in other counties as well. 8. If you have money for a cheap camera put it outside to see if your kitty comes around at night or while you're gone. We use Wyze cameras from Petsmart, Home Depot or Amazon, cheap yet very good. Usually about $25/$30 with memory card. Records day & night, motion sensor, etc and no membership is required. 9. Check the closets, cabinets, inside furniture, in washer/dryer, boxes, all over to ensure cat is not in the house. 10. Leave a cardboard box outside (under shelter) with a soft blanket or straw, for your cat to hide in if they return when you are not home. 11. Check 24petconnect. This website provides found cats that are currently at Animal Control, the Humane Society and the APA. The website updates throughout the day so check back often. I've even seen cases of chips that stopped working. 12. If you have a garage, leave your garage door open a little or put out a box or plastic tote with blankets for shelter in case he/she comes back at night. Keep entry point open when possible so cat can re-enter with ease. 13. Look in storm drains. Follow the path in case your cat traveled it. 14. Check near trash piles and boxes left out. 15. See if anyone has a cat friendly dog that might be able to get your cats scent and locate him/her. 16. See if there are any cat colonies or feeders of cats nearby. Some people have lost their kitties and they were found at a cat colony looking for food. Also, if it's cold out check any possible warm place, even under cars and in wheel wells too. Prayers sent!
