You’re probably getting a lot of advice but I hope some/all of these tips help you bring your baby home quickly. Most important tip, do not wait for your cat to show up, even if they’ve escaped before and come home on their own! Be very active in your efforts to bring your baby home, fliers, door knocking, going out at night with flashlight, etc. If you’re unsure if he/she’s still close by I highly recommend an outdoor camera. It doesn’t have to be a Ring that requires a subscription. I have an indoor/outdoor Wyze purchased from Amazon for less than $40 (does require separate purchase of outdoor power cable but that was cheap). I set the camera up to alert me when it detects movement and it immediately pops up on my phone. Leave food out close to house/apartment entry to encourage your cat to stay close by rather than wander away looking for resources. Also, if possible, leave the door or window to the house/apartment or garage cracked open because they often will wander up and come right inside.

Do NOT put out the litter box. Putting the litter box outside is NOT recommended. ONLY put out unwashed items of cat and owners like clothing and bedding, things that smell like home. Cats instinctively bury their waste to keep predators away. By putting the litter box out you are attracting predators and aggressive strays keeping your cat hiding and possibly running further away from the area. I told this to one woman who confirmed that she saw stray cats using Her cat’s litter box claiming it as theirs and marking territory. It made her cat leave the area. Luckily someone saw her cat blocks away at an abandoned house and there were NEON Posters at intersections with info that I put up for owner. Coyote hunters actually put out used cat litter to lure in coyotes. Never give up cats have been found months and even years later but you have to be proactive 🙏🏻❤️

Get your scent out put out dirty clothes scent helps them find way home talk to mail carrier they may see your pet on their route go to shelters and check ask to see all areas check all FB lost and found pets sites

Neon posters with Jumbo markers and the least amount of writing at intersections get high visibility by passing vehicles. Beware there might be a couple mean pranksters just ignore and don’t give up. Sample poster enclosed. Physically visit shelters at least once a week. investigate all leads as sometimes pictures don’t accurately show coloring or markings and if a lost pet has been out awhile it might get dirty and matted.

Be Proactive and Aggressive in your search. Act Fast. Sometimes people wait, mistakenly thinking cat will just come home on their own. Don’t give up. Cats usually stay within a 5 House Radius. Indoor cats don’t usually go far. They get scared and try to be quiet. They could be hunkering down in nearby bushes, under decks/porches, crawlspaces etc. Look in garages/sheds, rafters, trees and drainage pipes in ditches. Look in the same places you already did again and again because cats will move to different nearby places if spooked. I’ve had people say they found their cat in a place they looked at a few times. Place a humane trap with stinky food in it on your property or ask neighbors if you can put one on theirs. If you have a dog, use their strong sense of smell taking them for a walk around the neighborhood and your home. Alert neighbors and ask to look on their property and garages/sheds, under sheds too if obvious holes dug by animals. Go out in the quiet of night with a High Lumens Tactical LED flashlight looking for glowing eyes. Sit out in the quiet of night and read a book out loud in a calm and soothing voice. Shake noisy cat toy or treats. Keep garage slightly open with cats bed/blanket and articles of owners unwashed items. Also check thoroughly indoors, dresser drawers, linen closets, totes, under couches lining, cupboards, basement etc.. Neon posters at intersections, otherwise how would someone who isn’t on social media and might have seen or taken in your cat know some is looking. Physically go to shelters and leave info every couple days. Leave info at local veterinarian offices. Also post on Facebook pages, For The Love Of Louie Michigan Lost Pet Lookers & Local Facebook groups. Also post on your local Nextdoor app and the Pawboost app, they will send out email alerts to members and will also post on local Facebook Lost and Found Pets groups. Good Luck.
