Message from Owner

My sweet kitty, Belly Cat, has gone missing. He’s partially blind. I have a reward for a safe return. Closure would even help. I’ve had this cat for eight years. He has been with me through so much. I’ve even lost boyfriends over this cat because they were jealous. Lol he’s a character. Any information helps. He’s a big orange tabby with white feet and white chest. The tip of his tail is broken and, I think, partially missing. He has big green eyes and a patch of black on his side that looks like dirt, but it’s not. And he has a birthmark on his bottom lip in the front. I guess you would call it a lip… anyway, my heart is completely broken.. If you could keep your eye out for him, I would be eternally grateful. Thank you so so much

Beautiful baby! I hope he finds his way home!! Just some pointers, as I’ve had 2 of mine escape in the past, and these worked for me. Often times a displaced cat is close by & just hiding. Check your surrounding bushes. And know that cats naturally MAY hide all day but brave coming out when sun sets, esp if hungry. 1. If you live in a house or 1st floor apt, leave a window open if it’s safe to do so- this really helps, as they can return when they feel ready. Put a shirt of yours & a toy/blanket of his (anything that has both of your scents on them) in the window seal along with a small amount of heated up anchovies/tuna/sardines or cooked bacon. The stinkier the better- warming it up in microwave a little can help it smell stronger. If window isn’t an option, resort to front door, porch, or patio. Do this right away. 2. Assume he’s nearby & scared to come out of hiding. Put a bowl of water outside so he stays hydrated. Avoid placing dry bowls of food out the 1st day, as you need him to be hungry enough to be motivated to come home, and you want him going toward that tasty stinky anchovy/sardine/bacon dish. And don’t worry- cats are very resilient & can go a bit without food. 3. Assume he can hear you & call out to him calmly & sweetly every hour from open window/door. Make sure ZERO SIGNS of distress in your voice, or he may be reluctant to come. Sound happy & casual like all is well. Lightly tap a fork on a bowl or shake a bag of treats here & there. Avoid anything too loud. 4. Try to keep your window open overnight if it’s safe, as that’s when cats are most active & have a higher chance of returning home than during the day. Or even crack your door. Reheat the stinky food in the window seal a few times to keep it smelly. Maybe d a blanket of his or sweatshirt/towel of yours on something outside close by. You can place his bed on porch or even litter box, but my indoor kitties have always returned through the window for the anchovies/sardines/bacon, & they were terrified of the outdoors. 5. At night, get out with flashlight & shine into bushes nearby. You’ll see his eyes if she’s there.
