He seems to be staying close, only darted 2 houses away on the opposite side of our street

We set up a trap by our home with tuna! So far only 2 raccoons were caught. 😩 We did see Venom though when searching last night! He almost came to us before darting away - praying that he just goes into the trap/comes home soon

MISSING CATS Most cats rarely go far...they will be too scared. Put a box out with a dirty article of clothing -unwashed pillow case-sweaty clothes and/or something that smells like your cat. Put out some stinky wet food-tuna or sardines-mackerel. Sprinkle flour on the porch to see if footprints can be seen. NO LITTER BOX OUTSIDE-it draws stray cats & predators that will keep your cat from returning. ♦️*Leave a door-window or garage door opened so your kitty has access to get back in on its own. Drizzle tuna juice up to the door & place tuna or wet food farther inside. Most will return late at night when it’s dark and quiet. Be sure to secure all other pets in a closed room to prevent them from escaping♦️ We can make you a flyer with your contact number so you can download & get copies made. Get flyers made using BRIGHT NEON paper so they will stand out. (Place LOST at the top. PICTURE in the middle. PHONE NUMBER below picture if making your own). You can also get 4 to a sheet to cut & pass out to everyone you see. Place flyers in gallon sized zip lock bags with zipper at the bottom. Post them on every 2-3 telephone poles & every pole at intersections. Eye level-staple 4 corners. Use neon duck tape to hang on metal poles. Post at vet offices & any heavy traffic areas. When you search, do so with with a person the cat knows. Do not call him by name. Go out with a bag treat, make kissy noises. At nite take a flashlight & shine the light everywhere. It will make the cat's eyes glow. If seen -he may not come to you-drizzle tuna juice or mix wet food with water & drizzle back to your door. Have all neighbors check garages, sheds and under porches-window wells-up in trees-any where he could hide. Keep cking areas in the event he is moving around. If there have been sightings of him in another area, ask those neighbors if you can put a trap there. If a trap is needed-ask us for the proper protocol. Traps must be monitored at all times. Many cats are found trapped in a place that's locked like a shed or garage. DON'T GIVE UP!

I just want to share this with you. My cat Snoopy got out on a Friday night and I immediately set a trap. On Sunday, I bought a second trap. I checked the two traps after 6 am Monday morning. No luck. Monday night for the first time, I left the garage door open slightly enough for my cat Snoopy to get in and I left the cellar door open. I left the lights off in the garage and cellar, except for a light in a separate room. I put 2 blankets by the garage door entrance that Snoopy slept on. I kept all my other cats upstairs. After checking the traps with no luck, I went downstairs and I heard something and then found Snoopy in the cellar. My other cats went down to greet him. I am so grateful that Snoopy is home. Some time ago, my young cat snuck out late. I called him and put out a trap, but he didn't come. In the morning, I went out and made cat sounds like he does because he doesn't meow. I then heard him respond and found him hunkered down beside the air conditioner. He must have been very scared all night. He was only about 20-25 feet from my back door. I copied the following messages from other people giving advice on finding lost cats. If Indoor Fixed Kitties: Indoor fixed kitties rarely go far and are usually found hiding scared nearby. Look under everything...porches, decks, sheds, cars, bushes, etc. Look at night and into the wee hours of the morning with a flashlight to see eyes glowing. Ask/tell neighbors. Flyers = sightings. Consider using a humane trap ASAP. Please no litter box outside because it can attract predators and potentially keep your kitty from returning. Prayers for a safe return. If you're able you can also try leaving a door, garage door or window cracked open to let kitty come back in. A video doorbell or trail camera can be helpful to see if kitty is coming around when you're sleeping. Honestly - the magic time is 11pm-6am in spring/summer (8pm-6am in fall/winter) - when no humans are outside. That is when they feel comfortable coming out of hiding. Sit on steps/porch by where cat escaped - talk softly. Let cat come to you. Avoid eye contact. Lost pets will not act "normally" - they are in survival mode.
