Found/Stray Dog in Modesto, CA 95351

** FOUND DOG ** Last night a friend & I were headed to fish at the Neece drive boat launch across from the Modesto Nuts stadium, & stumbled upon a woman sitting here with this dog. She said it was lying there, & had no clue who it belonged too. We knew we had to do something because after taking a good look at her & noticing her timid behavior, it was clear she was starving, probably very uncomfortable & nobody was coming to help her. I fed her my chow mein I had just got from panda & she ate some of it, (it’s literally all I had! 😭) She finally let us pet her & my buddy got her in his car! He took her home for now; in the meantime I went & grabbed them a bag of food. He said she lied down & began snoring on the ride home 🥺. He’s been monitoring her all night & she’s doing good so far. Today we will scan for a chip & make efforts to find a possible owner. I’ve rescued dogs before but none in this bad of condition.. her ribs and spine are extremely visible. He sent videos of her in his yard and I tried to screenshot them so you can see her condition. We will try our best to find her rightful owner, but eventually due to both of our living situations we cannot keep her. We will have to surrender her & I’d like to avoid that if possible. Although she’s emaciated, she’s a BIG GIRL. She is very strong, very sweet, and looks to be some sort of mastiff breed. Her collar has a worn down little leash on it that was clearly being dragged for some time from the looks of it. No tag to be found. He said that she keeps rubbing her ear. I’m assuming ear mites but she really needs to be evaluated by a professional vet. She loves to give the paw, looks like she had pups at some point of her life, but I’m unable to tell if she’s fixed or not. If anyone knows of any rescues that can help if we do not find the owner, or programs to help have her looked at by a vet, please reach out. I’m unable to provide care like I have for other strays in the past due to my current life situation and it’s breaking my heart. Thank you so much 🩷
