PLEASE NOTE: Maverick has been spotted a few times and has been spooked by people whistling, calling out to him, etc. If you see him, PLEASE ignore him, take a photo, send it to the numbers on the poster and report the sighting. We know this comes from a good place, but it is not helpful, frightens an already scared dog and pushes him further. Thank you so much! (Maverick's lost dog team.)

This will sound very counterintuitive. Do not go out searching and hunting for Maverick. Dogs feel all that energy. Go out into search field with tasks, ie. Walking your other dog if you have one, Posting flyers, canvassing, placing trailcams and food stations, tying strips dirty stinky socks (from his caregiver at NMDR) on bushes, fences, and trees two feet up from ground. Lost dogs circle a 3 mile radius from lost location. They look for familiar. Try not to drive your vehicle on busy streets because your car drops your scent. You want to keep dog from busy street. and again don’t go driving and searching. You want to be the caregiver, not Hunter. You have a smart, brave dog. Mini’s are great mousers and are very resilient. Dog is in survival mode and going to run from everyone. So let him become the neighborhood dog. Track sightings on a map. Let flyers be your eyes. Tell community to treat dog like a stray cat. When they see him, Stop, Drop, take a pic, report exact date, time and location of sighting. He will settle and most likely will follow someone walking their dog. You’ve got this Maverick!

We have posted to multiple social media platforms and dedicated pages. He’s been reported as missing to hsppr and the NMDR who we rescued from is looking as well. He’s very timid and will run if approached.

General Information: Set up a scent station. Get a scent that the dog is familiar with out in front of the house (EX Worn clothing / shoes from a family member/owner that the dog lives with.) Hang it out high so that the smell can travel and guide the dog back home. Keep an access point open in case the dog returns. Please post signs with the dogs' picture and your contact information on the sign. Post these signs all over as if someone spots your dog the person can contact you and provide a location of where the dog is. (Not everyone is on Social Media). Ask your neighbors to check their doorbell or house cameras (if applicable), sheds and garage. Owners: Do not try and search for the dog - as your scent travels when you are out and walking all over can confuse the dog. The dog should only smell your scent near your home. Never underestimate the ability of a dog to find their way home using their nose. Call or go to the Animal Shelter in your area and tell them that your dog is missing to see if it has been picked up. Prayers your dog is found safely. Beware of scammers.
