Black Long hair male cat with white markings

Message from Owner

He must have slipped out of door when we were moving boxes on Friday. I have already put out litter box and food. He hasn't returned. He has never been outside before so I know he is scared. Long black haired cat with very fluffy tail. He white paws with a black dot on the front left paw. He is bigger than the pictures. He is 8 months. His name is Cousin It but we call him Lil Cuz.

Also, another great tip I got once was to always put pets in a room or bathroom with the door closed and a note saying ‘do not open’ when you’re going to have people coming to your house, especially if there’s any chance they might leave a door open long enough for a pet to escape. Even putting them in carriers for their safety if there’s no other option is better than hoping they won’t get out. Praying for a safe, quick return!

If your kitty is missing, they often don’t go far. Leave out warm/cold water, post flyers & put out food in a clear storage bin on its side. Just after dark/bef dawn go a little ways from where they were lost w/a flashlight. Stand still, call them softly, look under/around bushes/decks/sheds for eye shine & movement - shake a treat bag. If cold at night, put a heating pad in a box/crate on low. Put out/hang items that smell like you/them so the scent carries. Call into storm drains as sound echoes. Look in sheds & crawlspaces, especially if you/neighbor had work done recently or one was left open. Ask neighbors if You Can Help check their shed/crawl space/deck. Be Active in your search; Don’t just hope they’ll find their own way back. Go out at different times daily to call and look-best time is dusk to dawn. Reposition security cams to see if you spot them after dark. Ask neighbors to check their footage. Try a humane trap, available on Amazon. Easy to use, but must be checked every hour day or night if set open bc trapped animals are vulnerable. Send pic & info to local vets, rescues & animal control. If microchipped, check info is up-to-date & mark them as lost/missing. Look for lost/found pet pgs or county animal control pgs to post on: facebook.com/profile.php?id=100067051195687 | facebook.com/lostandfoundpetsinchesterfieldandRVA | facebook.com/groups/660698751239235/ Here are sites w/info: Missing Animal Rescue Network (MARN) youtu.be/g2eCoC63B91 petfbi.org/ www.alleycat.org www.neighborhoodcats.org alleycatadvocates.org./ Nextdoor.com Pawboost.com & Ring Neighbors (no ring camera needed). Keep updating your post every 1-2 days so it shows back up in the feed. Note: leaving out litter/food in multiple places could be confusing & attract other cats/animals. Best of luck- I hope they’re home safe soon.

A Trap & camera are key!!! Our boy was finally trapped after 45days! Seen almost nightly on camera. Local the entire time!! Don’t give up! CHECK GARAGES etc!

Your cat is not far so put something of yours out for scent. Super super Important to look and call late at night and early a.m. hours with a flashlight as it is quiet then and they might come out of hiding. Use some smelly fishy food to attract. 🙏🏻. Also if your cat is not found soon check any feral colonies nearby because even though your cat is not feral after awhile it’s definitely hungry and a lot of the colonies have someone that feeds them so your cat may have gravitated that way 🙏
