This happened to us in September... My boy was gone 17 days! We got a porch camera and thought we saw him a few times coming to eat and drink ... We borrowed a humane cat trap, caught a bunch of strays, and then finally after 17 long days we caught our boy in the trap! Don't give up! This was the only way we caught our skiddish kitty who was outside among all the strays, and raccoons etc and frightened! It works! Put out a just worn t-shirt every day and some cat toys, litter box, anything with your scent and theirs too! I passed over 100 flyers too and posted anywhere and everywhere on social media!

I'm sure he/she is hiding nearby or could have been accidentally locked in a neighbor's garage - talk to all neighbors in a several block radius. Posters are helpful and do notify police and animal shelters.. Most importantly, I would get a chair, a bowl of her/his favorite food or tuna, a used litter box for scent, and stay outside your door in that chair tonight and every night until he/she comes home. You must monitor the litter box! The scent of litter boxes attracts predators like wild dogs and coyotes and most experts suggest caution. In my advice post I specify that you must remain outside to monitor the litter box. Animals can smell these a mile away and the last thing you want is to lure your kitty into a coyote ambush. Here’s a recent joyous post discussing a lost kitty who was found: "Thank you all for help in finding Patty! She was found by kind neighbors a street over. She was stuck in a tree. Patty is getting all the love, dinner, fresh water, and all the attention.” Thank you Patty for reminding us to look in all possible places including high trees and utility poles especially at night. Kitties can climb up a tree or pole to escape from a predator often in the middle of the night when they are active. Yes, I know it’s cold tonight but so is it cold for your baby – just bring blankets and a warm hat. Cats hide during the day but will come out late at night when they feel its safe. You need to be there when she/he comes back because he/she will not hang around and wait for you. Be patient and call her/him by name often. This will require some work and inconvenience but it will be well worth the effort.

If you can get a live trap that will help. Have neighbors check all garages and sheds in case he got stuck in one. Also check sewers and in trees because a lost cat was recently stuck in one. And under porches. At night go outside with a flashlight and some treats or a bag of cat food and call for him.You can also play ringtones of kittens meowing- he might hear it. Shine the flashlight in bushes so you can see his eyes glowing. Many people have found their lost pets between midnight-6 am. Be sure to check all surrounding shelters, rescues and vets in case someone found him and brought him there. Also check with your mail carrier as they see alot on their routes. Check all closets, drawers, crawl spaces, bat, attic, inside recliners and inside and behind the couch in case he hid and got stuck.Go outside when its dark with a laser pointer and point it to the ground-he might see it. If you have a baby monitor put it outside so you can hear him. Leave your garage door up a little bit and put some food in there so he can go in. And most importantly- do NOT listen to anyone who tells you to text a number or code or to go onto Instagram or FB for "pet rescuers", "pet trackers" or "pet detectives" because they're scammers preying on pet owners and should be reported and banned.
