Elaine Winter I know it’s hard being in rescue spaces sometimes. You gave some good advice here. At the same time, some of the assumptions in your comment may not be accurate unless you know what the person has already done outside this post. People often post while they’re actively searching and trying different things. The people most likely to hear your advice and change their plans are already doing what they already know know how to do. A little kindness goes a long way when someone is worried about their pet.

Create a scent station (items with your/your cat’s smell - unwashed bedding, clothing, cat tower, etc. Especially important if cat is in new/unfamiliar area. Do NOT put out litter pan as feces often used to mark territory and may inadvertently attract predators or territorial cats.). Check it often, especially when things are quiet (late evening/early morning). Leave the garage door open 5” overnight. Check nearby Ring/security cameras in the area. Check in and under everything inside and outside with a flashlight. Cats don’t usually go far and freeze in a tight ball in very small, tight, dark areas when scared. The flashlight catches their eyes’ stare, especially at night. Thoroughly check inside your home, especially if this is a new/shy/scared pet. Post on NextDoor app as it covers your local neighborhoods. Be sure to check your local animal shelter in person at least every other day (can’t stress enough - in person!!! You know your pet best plus animals constantly brought in). If your cat is not spayed/neutered, may be why it is “lost” and traveling further. Hope your pet is home safe and soon. (Note: if anyone asks for money or a code as “they have your pet,” this is a scam). https://www.pawboost.com/blog/7-effective-search-tips-for-finding-your-lost-cat/ https://petfbi.org/i-lost-a-cat/tips-to-lure-a-cat-back-home-2/

Is your cat microchipped? She better be spayed because if she is going to roam further away from where you live and get pregnant. You think that all you have to do is post about this on social media and someone will find her and bring her back to you. You are the one who needs to get out, be looking for her, and put up flyers and posters within a square-mile radius of where you live. She's lost because YOU left the door open and wan't paying attention to your cat. For an indoor cat, you need to get a cat trap from animal control and trap her. She is going to be hiding near your home. She is not going to come out to anyone because she is too afraid and is in a state of panic. Don't act helpless and get out there and start doing what you need to do to find her.

Go out late at night and early morning with wet food and sit. Check sheds and garages. Put bedding outside
